Frank M. Campos Jr., 60, of Napoleon died Friday at his residence.
Born May 17, 1947, in Toledo, he was the son of Josie Campos and the late Frank Sr. Campos. He married Marie Beaty, who survives.
He worked for the Ford Motor Co. and retired after 30 years.
He is also survived by a daughter Marisa (John) Cline; a son, Darren (Kristin); four brothers, Pete (Lydia), Jesse (Lisa), Chuck (Robin) and Eddie; a sister, Anna Campos; special friends Millie (Roger) Brunn and Ben Brunn; and a grandchild.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Frankie; a brother, Ancelmo; and special friend Roger Brunn.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church of Grand Rapids, with a prayer service preceding at 10 a.m. at Wright Funeral Home, Grand Rapids. Interment will be at Highland Memory Gardens of Waterville.
Visitation will be 3-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where a scripture service will begin at 8:30.

Carrie Miller, 96, of Archbold died Wednesday at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold.
Born Jan. 30, 1912, near Archbold, she was the daughter of Samuel and Katie (Nofziger) Sauder. On June 5, 1932, she married Martin J. Miller, who preceded her in death Oct. 5, 1974.
A homemaker, she dipped chocolate for Almeda Candies, was a volunteer at Care and Share and was a member of Central Mennonite Church near Archbold.
She is survived by three sons, Richard and Robert (Mary), both of Archbold, and Jerry (Martha) of Leslie, Mich.; three daughters, Annabelle (Ed) Carlin of Archbold, Doris (John) Eberly of LaJanta, Colo., and Linda (James) Howard of Jackson, Mich.; a sister, Viola Aeschliman of Wauseon; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Edwin and Melvin Sauder; and three sisters, Emma Grieser, Fannie Sauder and Laura Roth.
Services will be 3 p.m. today at Central Mennonite Church, Pastor Jeffrey Smith, Pastor Wanda Stopher and Pastor Bill Holsopple officiating. Interment will precede at Pettisville Cemetery.

Kay E. Eberly, 59, of Delta died Saturday at her residence.
Born Nov. 20, 1948, in Swanton, she was the daughter of the late William and Eva (Bloomer) Green. On March 18, 1977, she married Roger Eberly, who survives.
She drove bus for Pike Delta York Schools for 12 years and was a member of Calvary Baptist Temple of Delta.
She is also survived by two sons, Matthew (Heather) Morse and Jason Eberly; a daughter, Wendy (Ken) Panico; three sisters, Sue (Don) Herum, Donna (James) Logsdon and Sherry (Dan) Day; a brother, William Green; and three grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Barnes Funeral Chapel, Delta, Pastor Aaron Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Raker Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Walter “Bud” H. Diamond, 74, of Defiance died Friday at Defiance Regional Medical Center.
Born April 19, 1933, in Defiance, he was the son of Emery G. Diamond Sr. and Frances Ruby Merz. In 1954, he married E. Joanne Stover, who survives.
A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a supervisor at Zeller Corp. for 39 years before retiring in 1995. He was a member of Defiance Elks Lodge #142, AMVETS Post #1191, V.F.W. Post #3360 and Ayersville United Methodist Church.
He is also survived by a daughter, Sandra (Michael) Pessefall of Defiance; three sons, Nick (Deb) of Defiance, Dan (Julie Black) of Antwerp and Todd (Shara) of Catawba, N.C.; two sisters, Gertrude Becher of Ayersville and Ruth Christman of Defiance; a brother, Robert G. of Defiance; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Alen; a sister, Frances Murphy; and a brother, Emery G. Diamond Jr.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ayersville United Methodist Church, Defiance, Rev. James W. Ernst officiating. Interment will be at Riverview Memory Gardens in Defiance County, where V.F.W. Post #3360 will perform graveside services.
Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. today at Mast-Mock-Hoffman-Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.

Carolyn “Sue” Roseman, 69, of Swanton died Friday at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.
Born Aug. 31, 1938, in Wauseon, she was the daughter of Gilford and Doris (Irwin) Slee. She married Harry G. Roseman Jr., who survives.
She is also survived by two sons, Jeff and David; a daughter, Susan Finnegan; two sisters, Norma Paahana and Diane (Daryl) Warnke; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Barnes Funeral Chapel, Delta, Pastor Mary Burroughs officiating. Private interment will be held at a later date.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

W. Zatella Hicks, 94, of Montpelier and formerly of Bryan died Saturday at Evergreen Manor.
Born April 6, 1913, she was the daughter of Lloyd B. and Nora B. (Johnson) Wolf. She married Harry W. Walker, and they were divorced. She later married Lawrence Hicks, who preceded her in death in 1974.
A telephone operator for General Telephone and the Aro Corp., she gave piano lessons in her younger years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Bryan, where she formerly played the organ.
She is survived by a son, David (Susan) Walker of Edon; and two grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Dale D. Walker; and a sister, Geraldine Cochran.
Graveside services will be 3 p.m. today at Floral Grove Cemetery, Pioneer, Pastor John McFarland officiating.
There will be no visitation.

Wesley R. Leu, 24, of Leipsic died Thursday.
Born Nov. 9, 1983, in Defiance, he was the son of Theresa J. (Weber) Eitemiller of Leipsic and the late Terry W. Leu Sr.
A 2002 graduate of Leipsic High School, he was employed at Patrick’s Plastics of Leipsic. He was a regular blood donor through the American Red Cross and a member of Leipsic United Methodist Church.
He is also survived by a daughter, Courtney Michelle McCarty of Leipsic; three brothers, Terry W. (Amy) Leu Jr. of Montpelier and Robert W. Leu and Frank M. Eitemiller, both of Leipsic; two sisters, Amanda J. Eitemiller of Napoleon and Mariah L.R. Eitemiller of Leipsic; and grandparents Bonnie J. French of Napoleon and Bill Huddy of Nelsonville.
He was also preceded in death by his step father, G. Michael Eitemiller; a sister, Kelly R. Eitemiller; and grandparents Ronald L. Weber Jr. and Mary Lou Huddy.
Services will be noon Tuesday at Wright Funeral Home, Grand Rapids. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Grand Rapids.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Vivian Florence Young, 88, of Bucyrus and formerly of Deshler died Wednesday at Fairview Manor in Bucyrus.
Born April 9, 1919, in Elgin, Ohio, she was the daughter of Charles Edward and Sophronia Elva (Sagar) Coffman. On June 4, 1939, she married Rev. Delmar Jay Young Sr., who preceded her in death Dec. 8, 1995.
She was a member of the many churches her husband served over the years.
She is survived by three daughters, Marilyn Kay Young of Marion, Ind., and Mary Alice Young and Dorothy Marie Rose, both of Bucyrus; two sons, Delmar Jay (Sue) Jr. of Bucyrus and John Edward (Cathie) Sr. of Deshler; a brother, John “Bill” (Jean) Jenkins of Elizabethtown, Ky.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by a grandchild.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler, Pastor Paul Lehenbauer officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler, and a luncheon will follow at the Peace Lutheran Church fellowship hall in Deshler.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Virginia Freeman, 81, of Holiday, Fla., and formerly of Archbold died Monday at Kindred Hospital Central in Tampa, Fla.
Born July 21, 1926, in Limon, Colo., she was the daughter of Frank and Irene (Coppers) Wilkins. On April 5, 1946, she married Howard Freeman, who survives.
She and her husband owned and operated the Archbold Lanes for 20 years and she was a member of St. John’s Christian Church in Archbold.
She is also survived by a son, Bert (Bonnie) of Jackson, Mich.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Terry; and a brother, Harry Wilkins.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John’s Christian Church - Chapel of the Cross, Rev. Erich Christman officiating. Interment will follow at Archbold Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Sunday at Short Funeral Home, Archbold.

Sophia Damman, 102, of Jacksonville, Fla., and formerly of Napoleon died Monday in Jacksonville.
Born Nov. 22, 1905, in Petersdorf, Romania, she was the daughter of Martin and Marie (Grameth) Teutsch. She married Martin Grampes, who preceded her in death in 1929. On Feb. 16, 1931, she married William H. Damman, and he preceded her in death Nov. 26, 1988.
A homemaker, she was a member of Celebration Lutheran Church in Fruit Cove, Fla., and a former member of St. John Lutheran Church in Freedom Township, Henry County.
She is survived by a son, John (Phyllis) Damman of Napoleon; a daughter, Marianne (Virgil) Brackmann of Jacksonville; 22 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great grandchildren; and eight great-great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three sons, Fred, Martin and Franklin Damman; a daughter, Helen Mahnke; a brother, Martin Teutsch; and a sister, Mary Schueller.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Snyder-Wesche Funeral Home, Napoleon, Rev. Stephen Niermann officiating. Interment will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Freedom Township.

William “Bill” E. Rosebrock, 93, died Saturday in Downers Grove, Ill.
Born Aug. 30, 1914, near Hamler, he was the son of Wilhelm and Bertha (Renner) Rosebrock. On Dec. 20, 1936, he married Rosella Knapp, who preceded him in death in 1967. In 1973, he married Florence Nash, who survives.
He is also survived by a son, William Jr. of Sugar Grove, Ill.; three daughters, Janet (Carlton) Bauer of Holgate, Roberta (Hal) Stroh of Kendallville, Ind., and Connie (Dean) Cappel of Bourbannis, Ill.; two step sons; nine grandchildren; a step grandchild; eight great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Frank, Bertram, Louis and Hans.
Services were held Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lisle, Ill.

Dennis Lee Schroeder, 53, of Napoleon died Wednesday at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg.
Born Sept. 13, 1954, in Salem, Ohio, he was the son of John Schroeder of Swanton and the late Norma (Reed) Schroeder.
He was employed with the Campbell Soup Supply Co. in Napoleon.
He is also survived by two sons, Jake and Newt at home; four sisters, Leota (Art) Pedraza of Napoleon, Kathy (Steve) Borkoski of Summerfield, N.C., Brenda Wittenmyer and Denny Wittenmyer of Liberty Center and Vicky Hickman of West Virginia; and three brothers, John Jr. (Sandy) of Toledo, Butch (Joyce) of Texas and Bob Fair of Tampa, Fla.

Born Feb. 23, 1927, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Dr. James and Leah (Joseph) Moden. On April 12, 1953, he married Marian Reichert, who survives.
He was the national sales manager for L. Wohl Co. of New York, co-owner of Moden Fashion Wheel of Napoleon and co-owner of Moden Lincoln Mercury Car Dealership of Napoleon. Serving on Napoleon City Council for two terms, he was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Bert G. Taylor American Legion Post #300, Luther R. Kolbe V.F.W. Post #8218, a life member of Elks Lodge #929 and past member of the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite, all of Napoleon.
He is also survived by three sons, William R. (Mary Jo) Jr., Steve (Patty) and Michael, all of Napoleon; a daughter, Julie (Paul) Walker of Napoleon; a brother, Dr. James (Marian) of Napoleon; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services and interment will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Cemetery in Napoleon, Pastor Gavin Pitt officiating.

Veronica Estelle Pittman, 25, of North Carolina and formerly of McClure died Sunday at her residence.
Born April 10, 1982, in Eden, N.C., she was the daughter of Patrick “Pat” and Brenda (Powell) Pittman of North Carolina.
She was a member of Leaksville United Methodist Church of Eden, where she was a former member of the youth group, youth choir and handbells. A 2000 graduate of Morehead High School, she was an active member of the band and also the high school swim team. For six years she volunteered her time and talents to Camp Carefree, and after high school she attended UNC-Wilmington before transferring to Rockingham Community College, where she graduated from the respiratory therapy department. She was currently employed with High Point Regional Hospital.
She is also survived by a sister, Alysha (Josh) Fulton of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and maternal grandparents Charles S. and Carol Ruth Powell of Naples, Fla.
She was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Bernard and Stanislove “Stella” Pittman.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Leaksville United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the church.

William C. McQuillin, 91, of Delta died Wednesday at Swanton Health Care.
Born June 19, 1916, in Delta, he was the son of Ray and Ethel (Hines) McQuillin.
He worked for Freeman Supply Lumber Yard in Toledo and was a member of the Delta American Legion.
He is survived by three sons, Richard (Mary) Echler, Larry McQuillin and Alan McQuillin, all of Delta; a daughter, Mary Ann (Glenn) Griffin of Delta; four grandchildren; four step grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; and a step great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Velda McQuillin; a son, William Echler; and a sister, Velma Flickinger.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Barnes Funeral Chapel, Delta, Pastor Mary Schondel officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Delta.

Jessie Arlene Buckmaster, 71, died Wednesday at The University of Toledo Medical Center.
Born July 20, 1936, in Haskins, Ohio, she was the daughter of Kenneth G. and Alberta F. (Mann) Armitage.
She had been employed in the food service industry for many years and was a school bus driver for the Napoleon School District. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and AMVETS Post #1313 Auxiliary, both in Napoleon.
She is survived by a son, Claude “Tony” (Robin) Buckmaster of Napoleon; two daughters, U.S. Air Force Major Donna L.B. (J. Wesley) Crain of O’Fallon, Ill., and Beth J. (Jack) Trembach of Napoleon; a sister, Francis M. Beck of Napoleon; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, David Rex Ordway; a brother, Kenneth James Armitage; and a sister, Catherine Leona Armitage.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Walker Mortuary, Napoleon, Rev. Linda Hedden officiating. Interment will be at Glenwood Cemetery.

Clifford C. Nafziger, 90, of Archbold died Monday at Fulton County Health Center in Wauseon.
Born Feb. 25, 1918, near Archbold, he was the son of Alfred and Ruth (Eicher) Nafziger. On Dec. 25, 1940, he married Mary Beck, who survives.
He farmed and worked for Riegsecker Brothers, at Dan Sommers Furniture Shop and retired from Fore Craft. He was a charter member of Tedrow Mennonite Church.
He is also survived by two sons, Marvin (Judy) of Albany, Ore., and Lowell (Diane) of Goshen, Ind.; two daughters, Carol Anderson of LaCrosse, Wis., and Joyce (Lyle) Miller of Weatherford, Okla.; a brother, Maurice E. (Dorothy) of Archbold; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Leatherman; two brothers, Chester and Freeman; and two grandchildren.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Tedrow Mennonite Church, Pastor Randy Nafziger officiating. Interment will precede at Pettisville Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Friday at Fairlawn Chapel.

Onward “Onnie” C. McMahon, 80, of Napoleon died Monday at Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
Born April 7, 1927, in Shadyside, Ohio, he was the son of Onward C. and Helen (Icee) McMahon. On Jan. 20, 1959, he married Eileen M. Norris, who survives.
He retired in 1990 from ITT Higbie Fulton Division in Archbold after 30 years of service. He was a World War II Navy veteran and a life member of Napoleon Arthur Don Peterson Post #1313 and Wauseon V.F.W. Post #7424. He was a past member of Napoleon American Legion Post #300.
He is also survived by five sons, John David and George Onward, both of Neffs, Ohio, Dave Onward of Napoleon, Mark Allen of Okolona and Christopher of Wauseon; three daughters, Helen Cole of Swanton, Kathy Gheen of Neffs and Brenda Lynch of Okolona; two brothers, Jack of Wauseon and Andy of Napoleon; two sisters, Eileen McCoy and Eunice Bongiorno, both of Wauseon; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne and David; and two sisters, Ruth McMahon and Patricia McMahon.
Services and interment will be private.
There will be no visitation.

Frances L. Rettig, 89, of Palmetto, Fla., and formerly of McClure died Friday at the Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradington, Fla.
Born Dec. 13, 1918, in McClure, she was the daughter of Coy and Elsie (Wolfe) Dielman. On June 4, 1936, she married Paul Rettig, who preceded her in death in 1980.
She worked for Hoffman Produce in McClure for many years. She was a member of Sharon Methodist Church, an Auxiliary member of Luther R. Kolbe V.F.W. Post #8218 and Bert G. Taylor Legion Post #300 and a member of the Palmetto Mobile Home Club.
She is survived by two daughters, Bonnie McJilton of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Betty Johnston of Lugoff, S.C.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Dielman; and a sister, Luella DeCant.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Rodenberger Funeral Home, McClure. Interment will follow at Hockman Cemetery of McClure.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of services Thursday at the funeral home.

Teresa K. Adams, 58, of Napoleon died Friday at Golden LivingCenter-Northcrest in Napoleon.
Born Dec. 20, 1949, in Wauseon, she was the daughter of Lowell Thomas of Bryan and Pauline (Miller) Sampson of Osseo, Mich. On May 26, 1974, she married Terry Adams, who survives.
She was a childcare provider in her own home for many years and previously owned and operated her own beauty salon in Bryan. She retired from the Filling Home of Mercy of Napoleon.

Daisy E. Flory, 72, of West Unity died Sunday at Evergreen Manor in Montpelier.
Born Aug. 3, 1935, near Holsopple, Pa., she was the daughter of Edwin and Ada (Thomas) Eash Sr. On June 26, 1960, she married LeRoy Flory, who survives.
She was a cook at Hillside Country Living and the Ohio Turnpike Plaza, retiring in 2003. She attended West Franklin United Methodist Church near West Unity and was a member of the West Unity Garden Club.
She is also survived by two daughters, Esther (Tim) Rettig of Archbold and Sharon Flory of West Unity; four brothers, Kenneth (Annie) Eash of Jerome, Pa., Earl (Bernice) Eash of Johnstown, Pa., Vernon Eash of Holsopple and Edwin (Dorothy) Eash of Duncansville, Pa.; a sister, Betty (Harry) Blough of Hershey, Pa.; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three infant brothers and two brothers, Irvin and Robert Eash.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Short Funeral Home, Archbold, Pastor Stuart Rex, Pastor Mike Rayholtz and Rev. Charles Zimmerman officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Grove Cemetery near West Unity.

Eugene “Gene” L. Jackson, 97, of Bryan died Sunday at Sunset Village in Sylvania.
Born Dec. 26, 1910, in Coraopolis, Pa., he was the son of William and Lela (Grey) Jackson. On Feb. 2, 1940, he married Helen Lewis Jacobi, who survives.
He spent several years selling golf equipment in Michigan as a salesman for Spaulding Sporting Goods. In 1942, he began working for Aro Corp., retiring in 1975 as executive vice president of sales and marketing. After his retirement, he continued working as a consultant for several companies, working well into his eighth decade. He regularly attended Wesley United Methodist Church of Bryan and was a member of Orchard Hills Country Club of Bryan. He was a former elder at First Presbyterian Church of Bryan and was also formerly involved with Junior Achievement in Bryan for many years. He was active with many national business organizations.
He is also survived by three daughters, Linda (Ken) of Wyoming, Mich., Suzanne “Suzi” of Grand Blanc, Mich., and Marcia (Steven) Watts of Dayton; a sister, Betty Sweeney of Venice, Fla.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wesley United Methodist Church, Rev. Dwight Bowers officiating. Private interment will be held at Maplegrove Cemetery in Mason, Mich.

A former employee of Quadco Rehabilitation Center in Stryker, she was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church of Napoleon and the HOPE Senior Program.
She is survived by two sisters, Joan (Stanley) King of Walhalla, S.C., and Janet Creager of Napoleon.
Services will be noon Wednesday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Rev. Linda Hedden officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.

Charles “Chuck” R. Domeck died Friday at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky.
Born in 1932 in Detroit, he was the son of Carl and Elsie Domek.
He attended Bowling Green State University for two years before receiving an appointment to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He graduated in 1955 and served 13 years in the Corps of Engineers. He also received a master’s degree from the University of Michigan in nuclear physics. His experiences in nuclear engineering while in the military and as a civilian took him to numerous power plants including the Toledo Edison Davis-Besse facility near Oak Harbor. He also served in Vietnam, where he received the Bronze Star Award, and served in Germany and as an instructor at the Military Academy. He retired from military service, attaining the rank of major. He was a longtime member of First Christian Church in Wauseon and served on the Wauseon Library Board for many years. He was also a volunteer mentor with children in after-school reading programs.
He is survived by a brother, Gordon (Betty).
He was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor; and two brothers, Howard and Edwin.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, Rev. Mitch Maxted and Rev. Mary Jo Bray officiating. Interment will be at the Ohio Veterans Home Cemetery on Wednesday, with a military service conducted by Chaplain Birmingham.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.

Gilbert “Gib” Long, 73, of Delta died Saturday.
Born April 8, 1934, in Ada, he was the son of Marvin and Margaret (Muntis) Long. He married Pearl Maxson, who survives.
He joined the U.S. Army in 1953, serving a two-year tour in Germany. A lifelong farmer, he was a longtime 4-H advisor and member of his church, where he enjoyed working with many youth fellowships.
He is also survived by a daughter, Roseann (Wesley) Granger; a son, Gary; two brothers, James (Eleanor) and Thomas (Donna); a sister, Nancy (Jerry) Underwood; and seven grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Gail.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Delta United Methodist Church, Rev. Karen A. Crawford officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Delta.

Paul Joseph Fager, 46, of Wauseon died Saturday at Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
Born Jan. 19, 1962, in Marion, he was the son of the late Leonard and Cleo (Campbell) Fager. On April 30, 1988, he married Sue Ann Wasserman, who survives.
A graduate of Northwest State Community College, he worked for Sauder Woodworking for 22 years. He was an active member of St. Caspar Catholic Church of Wauseon and its Knights of Columbus and Relay for Life team. He was also a member of the Wauseon FFA Advisory Committee and Fulton County Farm Bureau and participated in cancer clinical trials at the Karmanos Cancer Center in Detroit.
He is also survived by three children, Justin, Kelly and Lindsay Fager, all at home; a brother, Gary of Delta; and two sisters, Valerie Betschman of Monroeville and Pamela Fager of Toledo.
He was also preceded in death by his step mother, Marie Fager.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Caspar Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. today at Barnes Funeral Chapel, Delta, with a scripture service beginning at 3.

Willard L. Short, 91, of Archbold died Saturday at Archbold Hospital.
Born Nov. 4, 1916, near Archbold, he was the son of Henry and Eliza (Eicher) Short. On June 10, 1937, he married Marie Short, who survives.
He was a farmer and owned and operated Short’s Clay Equipment until retiring in 1983. He was a member of Lockport Mennonite Church in rural Stryker.
He is also survived by two sons, Gary of Pleasant Prairie, Wis., and Aden J. (Susie) of Archbold; a brother, Calvin (Marjorie) of Archbold; a sister, Frieda Beck of Archbold; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Milton; and two sisters, Sylvia Schmucker and Myrtle Beck.
Services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Lockport Mennonite Church, Pastor Cliff Brubaker officiating. Interment will precede at 2 p.m. at Lockport Cemetery.

George E. Dyer, 59, of Fayette died Sunday at Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
Born Dec. 29, 1948, in Somerville, Tenn., he was the son of the late Roy and Betty (McNeil) Dyer. On July 21, 1979, he married Pamela Long, who survives.
He worked as a cook in several restaurants in the Toledo area and later worked at Ultra Morgan Horse Farm in Delta. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of Good Shepherd Mennonite Church near Archbold and V.F.W. Post #7424.
He is also survived by two sons, Corrion (Jessica) Walker of Toledo and Christopher Dyer of Fayette; a daughter, Andrea (Trevor) Dyer of Archbold; two brothers, Leon and Ervin, both of Toledo; two sisters, Jean Dyer and Susan Dyer, both of Toledo; and eight grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by an infant son, Brian; and a sister, Darlean Hayes.
Services will be noon Thursday at Good Shepherd Mennonite Church, Pastor David Tijerina and Pastor Gary Stuckey officiating. Interment will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo, where military honors will be accorded by the Fulton County Color Guard.

Dr. Melvin E. Heideger, 82, of Defiance died Friday at his residence.
Born June 16, 1925, in Rochester, Pa., he was the son of Ernest R. Heideger and Margaret J. Kabler. On Sept. 18, 1949, he married Arlene M. Ashbacher, who survives.
A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a graduate of Defiance College and Ohio College of Podiatrist Association, where he was also a member. He worked as a podiatrist for 30 years, retiring in 1988, and also was a manager at Phil’s Hobby Shopp. He was a member of the Propfloppler Model Airplane Club and Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church in Defiance.
He is also survived by a son, Daniel R. (Susan) of Killen, Ala.; a daughter, Jill (Steven) Kull of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant sister.
Services were today at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, Rev. Brian Stark officiated. Interment was at Riverside Cemetery in Defiance.

She is survived by three sons, Keith (Angie) of Centennial, Colo., Steve (Julie) of Archbold and Sam (Cheri) of Angola, Ind.; two daughters, Pat Nofziger of Goshen, Ind., and Luanne (Bob) Aschliman of Archbold; two brothers, Lester (Marjorie) and Glen (Doris) Nafziger, both of Archbold; a sister, Helen (Roy) Kauffman of Tiskilwa, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ervin and Ivan Nafziger; and two sisters, Beulah Nofziger and Vesta Miller.

Robert J. Suber

Robert James Suber, 70, of Deshler, Ohio, accepted his invitation to God’s house on Wednesday evening, March 19, 2008, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born June 19, 1937, in Deshler to Leo J. and Eileen (Overly) Suber. On Aug. 26, 1961, he married Judee M. Longbrake at the Deshler United Methodist Church and she survives.
Bob graduated from Deshler High School in 1955 and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in December of 1955. He was honorably discharged as a sergeant in December of 1958 and transferred to the Marine Corps Reserves until 1961. Robert first worked for his father at Deshler Foundry and Machine Works and then was a machinery repairman at the former Columbus Bolt of Deshler. He then moved to Hialeah, Fla., and became vice president of Hialeah Metal Spinning. In 1975, he returned home to Deshler to own and operate Deshler Metal Working, his father’s former business. Deshler Metal Working is the oldest family business in Deshler and is currently in its 5th generation with Robert’s son, Jim, as the operator. He was a member of Deshler United Methodist Church and its Board of Trustees. He was a member of Sycamore Lodge #520 F. & A.M., Deshler, and the Deshler Chapter of Royal Arch Masons #201.
Aside from his family, his greatest love was for his country. Bob was a very patriotic American and this was evident in Deshler every 4th of July. For the past 14 years, he would welcome family, friends and the entire community to share in the annual “Suber Fireworks.” He always remained a proud Marine and for several years he honored his fellow soldiers by playing “Taps” with his bugle for military funerals.
He is survived by his wife, Judee; four daughters, Denise (Randy) Schlea of Gibsonsburg, Ohio, Peggy (Brent) Musser of Bryan, Ohio; Delina Suber of Deshler and Kathy Suber of Deshler; three sons, John Suber of Deshler, Jim (Ladina) Suber of Deshler and Carl (Kristen Fortenberry) Engelhart of Norfolk, Va.; eight grandchildren, Cole Gerdeman, Robert Suber II, Mitchell Gerdeman, Allyson Musser, Alex Suber, Tabitha Musser, Nicole Schlea and Eric Schlea; and a brother, William (Paula) Suber of Deshler.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leo Suber.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Deshler United Methodist Church, with Pastor Mary Bushong and Pastor James Creager officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler, where graveside military honors will be accorded by Deshler American Legion Post #316. A dinner will follow the interment in the church basement.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler, where a Masonic service will be held at 7:45 p.m. in the funeral home.

Carlton G. Rothgery

Carlton G. Rothgery, 94, of Fond du Lac, Wis., died on March 20, 2008.
He was born in Fond du Lac on Aug. 27, 1913. After graduation from high school, he worked for the Fond du Lac Water Department and read meters in “every home in the city.” He moved to Chicago and went to work for the Campbell Soup Co. He met Hermina “Ike” Eichhorst when she was a nurse and he was a patient in St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. They were married on Feb. 16, 1943, in Lansing, Mich. Carlton served as a captain in the United States Army during World War II, serving in the Philippines, New Guinea, other Pacific islands and Japan. He earned two Silver Stars for gallantry in action while engaged in military operations involving conflict. After the war, he returned to work for Campbell’s, living in Chicago and Park Forest, Ill. In 1957, he moved to Napoleon, Ohio, and continued to work for Campbell’s until he retired in 1978, after 35 years of service. They moved to New Holstein, Wis., in 1978, and to Fond du Lac in 1999.
Carlton is remembered for his love of his wife and family, love of country, dedication to Campbell’s, his love of walking and travelling and pride in his sons. After their retirement, Carl and Ike traveled to Florida for 14 winters, Germany and Hawaii. They also frequently visited their children in Minnesota, North Dakota, Ohio and Michigan.
Carlton is survived by his sons, Michael (Dorothy) of Detroit, Patrick (Becky) of Wauseon, Ohio, and Jeffrey of Royal Oak, Mich.; granddaughters Emilie Rothgery of Detroit, Raelee Rothgery of Cincinnati and Katherine (Jay) Fandrey of Columbus, Ohio; great-grandchildren Madeline, John and Brittany Fandrey; and his sister, Jane (Covill) Musch of Wauwatosa, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise (Kushnick) Rothgery; his brother, Robert Rothgery; and in April 2007, his wife of 64 years, Hermina Rothgery.
He was a member of Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac and the American Legion.
Carlton’s funeral will be at the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home in Fond du Lac on Monday, March 24, Pastor Dean Desilet officiating. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. The service will be at 1 p.m. Committal will be at 2:45 p.m. at the Hillside Cemetery in Chilton.
Memorials to the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home and Immanuel-Trinity would be appreciated.

Born Dec. 14, 1908, in Leipsic, she was the daughter of William and Mary (Zenz) Seimet. On June 24, 1933, she married Lawrence I. Aelker, who preceded her in death June 24, 1979.
A homemaker, she was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in New Bavaria and its Rosary Altar Society. She was also past president of the Catholic Ladies of Columbia.
She is survived by a son, Larry C. (Janet) of New Bavaria; a daughter, Thelma (Robert) Williams of Lima; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; seven step great-grandchildren; and four step great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Claude and Eugene Seimet; and a sister, Thelma Seimet.

Born July 26, 1957, in Wauseon, she was the daughter of Elvan “Checky” and Ellen (Barrett) Miller Sr.
She worked at Midwest Stamping in Edgerton for 10 years and for the past three years at Defiance Metal Products. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Defiance and was a former member of the Defiance Moose Lodge.
She is survived by a son, Roger Cory Gerlach of Defiance; three daughters, Hope Miller and Michelle (Clayton) Williams, both of Defiance, and Jennifer (Scott) Cupps of Ney; two brothers, Elvan “Sonny” (Susan) Miller of Ayersville and Larry E. (Bonnie) Miller of Fayette.

Born Jan. 27, 1918, in Holgate, she was the daughter of Paul Brink and Dora Hefflinger. In 1936, she married Darrell Groll, who preceded her in death in 1954.
A member of St. Stephen Lutheran Chruch of Defiance County, she was also a member and past president of its Ladies Aid and Altar Society. She was a pie baker at Wellman’s Restaurant for many years and a co-owner of Slough’s Restaurant for five years. She was also a member of the Polka Boosters.
She is survived by a son, Gary (Pattie) of Defiance; two daughters, Pamela (Robert) Dawson and Patricia (Bruce) Zachrich, both of Defiance; a brother, Byron J. (Jeanette) Brink of Holgate; 12 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a grandchild and a great-grandchild.

Laurence Burdette “Unky” Kinder, 91, of Deshler died Tuesday at his residence.
Born Sept. 21, 1916, in Hamler, he was the son of Ora M. and Elizabeth (Reinbolt) Kinder Sr. On Oct. 19, 1940, he married Juliette J. Schippers, who survives.
He served with the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942-1945. He worked for CSX Railroad for more than 40 years, retiring in 1976, and also worked at the former Koppenhofer Brothers Poultry in Deshler for 18 years. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Deshler. Along with his wife, he was coordinator of the Deshler Council of Churches Food Pantry for over 33 years. He was also a member of Warren L. McIntyre American Legion Post #262 of Hamler and FISH of Henry County and was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels.
He is also survived by a sister, Pearl Kinder of Billings, Mont.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Irsel Tietje; and three brothers, Dale “Sparky,” Ora “Curley” and Robert Kinder.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Father Jeff Nordhaus officiating. David A. Grisier, 64, of Stryker died Wednesday evening at the Regency Hospital in Sylvania.
Born Jan. 13, 1944, in Defiance, he was the son of the late William F. and Helen L. (Perkins) Grisier.
Prior to his retirement, he had been a professional photographer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by a son, Gregory of Bryan; three daughters, Lida Sponsler and Evvie Grisier, both of Bryan, and Brandy (David) Day of Toledo; two brothers, Fred (Helen) and Beryl, both of Stryker; a sister, Phyllis Reed of Centerville, Ohio; and nine grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert; and a sister, Marcia Grisier.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Grisier Funeral Home, Archbold, Rev. Crystal Goodnight and William Swisher officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery of Stryker, where military rites will be conducted by Stryker American Legion Post #60.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Hilbert H. Arps, 85, of Atlanta, Ga., died Wednesday at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.
Born Oct. 7, 1922, in Defiance, he was the son of Fred Arps and Ida Elling.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was an agent for the FBI in Atlanta for 30 years before retiring in 1977. He attended St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Defiance, and was a member of the Stereo Scopic Club in Atlanta.
He is survived by two sisters, Hilda (Henry) Arps of Defiance and Erna Meyer of New Haven, Ind.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother and sister; three brothers, Albert, Herman and Raymond; and two sisters, Martha Gerken and Emma Werling.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Defiance, Rev. Thomas Frey officiating. Interment will be at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery in Okolona, where graveside military rites will be accorded by Ridgeville Ward L. Adams American Legion Post #454.
Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday at the church.

Bernice Damman, 96, of Napoleon died Wednesday at Country View Haven.
Born Nov. 30, 1911, in Defiance County, she was the daughter of William F. and Amelia (Riebesehl) Schliesser. On Nov. 19, 1932, she married George F. Damman, who preceded her in death June 10, 1973.
A homemaker, she helped her husband on the farm. She previously worked at the Wauseon Steak House, Foster Canning Co. for 12 years and cleaned at the Northcrest Nursing Home. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon.
She is survived by two daughters, Carol (Joe) Flowers of McClure and Colleen (Larry) Ashbaugh of Malinta; and 26 grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Kenneth; and a sister, Velma Kahrs.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Rev. Peter Marcis and Rev. John Holyer officiating. Interment will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Freedom Township. A luncheon will follow the committal service at the St. Paul Lutheran Church Trinity Center.

Jerry O. Marks, 64, of Napoleon died Tuesday at Henry County Hospital.
Born June 1, 1943, in Jackson, Ohio, he was the son of the late Clyde and Vernetta (Lambert) Marks. On June 8, 1963, he married Judy Delaney, who survives.
Most recently, he was the owner-operator of the Marks Auto Parts store in Napoleon and was also a licensed real estate agent with Welles-Bowen Realty of Napoleon, retiring in 2004. He was a member of the Napoleon Church of the Nazarene, the Henry County Sportsman Club and the Napoleon Golf Club.
He is also survived by a son, Tony (Amy) of Napoleon; a daughter, Paula (Rodney) Steward of Powell, Ohio; two brothers, Marvin and Lowell, both of Jackson; a sister, Kay Richardson of Shelby, Ohio; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Napoleon Church of the Nazarene, Rev. David Lutz officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Napoleon.
Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Friday at the church.

Born March 17, 1914, in Grelton, she was the daughter of Glen Carey and Della Ballard. In 1934, she married Virgil “Pete” Johnson, who preceded her in death in 1997.
She is survived by three daughters, Judith (Jim) Glanz of Grand Rapids, Karen (Bill) Wernimont of Ellenton, Fla., and Linda Johnson of Tamarac, Fla.; a sister, Jeanne Paul of Mission Viejo, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Services will be Saturday at Terra Ceia United Methodist Church in Florida. Interment will be held at a later date at Grelton Cemetery.

Imogene “Beanie” Harmon, 102, of Delta died Wednesday at Swanton Health Care.
Born Oct. 17, 1905, in Mason, Ohio, she was the daughter of Richard and Lottie (Girton) Cox. She married Peter H. Harmon, who preceded her in death in 1956.
She graduated from Bethesda Hospital School of Nursing and practiced nursing at Middletown Hospital. She was a member of Delta United Methodist Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Patricia Harmon of Toledo, Donna Vorobik of Dana Point, Calif., and Helen Pyles of Delta; a sister, Lois Forkner of California; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
Services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at Barnes Funeral Chapel, Delta. Interment will be Thursday at Monroe Cemetery in Monroe, Ohio.

Clara Anna Schwiebert, 88, of Hamler died Tuesday at Mercy Hospital in Defiance.
Born March 22, 1919, in Henry County, she was the daughter of Henry and Amelia (Rickenberg) Wachtman. On Jan. 20, 1945, she married Leonhard H. Schwiebert, who preceded her in death June 1, 1975.
A homemaker, she had worked for Holgate Quality Care Center (now Vancrest Health Care Center) as a cook for nine years. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Hamler, where she volunteered for the Hope Women of the Church and also taught Bible school. She was a member of the Hamler Wide Awake Club and volunteered for Meals on Wheels and also at The Lutheran Home at Napoleon.
She is survived by a daughter, Connie (Thomas) Schackow of Defiance; two brothers, Albert and Henry (Marilyn) Wachtman, both of Napoleon; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers, Edwin, Arthur and Eldor Wachtman.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Hope Lutheran Church, Hamler, Rev. Lindsay Shaner officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. A luncheon will follow the committal service at the Hope Lutheran Church education building.

Lester “Bud” Carl Shelt, 76, of Winnsboro, Texas, and formerly of Napoleon died Tuesday, March 11 at East Texas Medical Center, Gilmer.
Born March 6, 1932, in Napoleon, he was the son of Vernon and Gladys (Grant) Shelt. He married Elizabeth Stout, who survives.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Napoleon. He was also a member of the V.F.W. of Winnsboro and Napoleon Masonic Lodge #256 and the Napoleon Friendly High 12 #689.
He is also survived by four sons, Gregory of Delta and Robert, Jeffery and Anthony, all of Florida; a daughter, Pamela Shelt of Florida; a sister, Doris Boyd of Napoleon; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon “Ed”; and two sisters, Peg Betts and Lynette Baden.

Joel D. Biler, age 79, of Holgate, died Sunday morning, March 16, 2008, at the St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.
His Legacy: He was born Feb. 18, 1929, to Melvin and Hallie (Weber) Biler in Holgate. On June 18, 1950, he married Erma Hoffman in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Holgate.
He was an independent petroleum distributor for Mobil Oil from 1957 until forming the Dirr & Biler Oil Co. The business was sold in 1981. After retiring, he worked for the Holgate, Hamler and Stanley elevators. For many years he served on the Holgate Community Library Board. Joe was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Holgate, and the church council and choir, and was a Sunday school teacher and Sunday school superintendent. He is an Army veteran, serving time in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Helmke Post #340.
His Family: Surviving is his wife; a son, Tim (Melinda) Biler of West Jefferson, Ohio; a daughter, Susan (Alan) Walker of Greenville, N.C.; three grandchildren, Ashley and Nicole Biler and John Ehrhart; a step granddaughter, Morgan Walker; and a brother, Keith (Pat) Biler of Bryan. Preceding Joe in death is an infant brother, Nathan; and a brother, Norman Biler.
His Farewell Service: Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at 11 a.m. in the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Holgate, with Rev. Tamera Wood officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the William F. Helmke American Legion Post #340. Elmer L. Carrol, 75, of Perrysburg died Sunday at the Medical University of Toledo.
Born Aug. 24, 1932, in McClure, he was the son of James L. and Hope C. (Jones) Carrol. On Sept. 10, 1955, he married Shirley Denning, who survives.
He was owner and broker for Huner-Carrol Real Estate of Napoleon for more than 30 years. He was also assistant vice president for Peoples Savings Association in Toledo and worked 30 years in the banking industry, while farming his family farm in Henry County. He was a member of the Bethel Grange of McClure for 55 years, member and former trustee of the Bavarian Haus and a former member of the Ohio Realtor’s Association. He served as corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He is also survived by a son, William L. (Janet) of Maumee; a daughter, Brenda L. (Harold) Hoot of Waterville; a brother, James (Shirley) Jr. of Englewood, Fla.; a sister, Vivian L. (Floyd) Dominique of Napoleon; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger and Vernon Carrol; and a sister, Irma Koppenhofer.
Services and interment will be held at a later date.

He is also survived by three sons, Tyler, Travis and TJ, all of Archbold; three step sons, Casey Pieper, Lucas (Bethany) Pieper and Tory Johnson, all of Napoleon; a brother, Douglas (Jackie) of Pettisville; and a sister, Wendy (Fabian) Torres of Wauseon.

Robert Paul Hess, 85, died March 1, 2008, at Countryside Manor in Stokesdale, N.C.
Born Oct. 4, 1922, in Woodstock, Ohio, he was the son of Howard and Mae Hess. He married Valeta Wittenberg in 1946, who preceded him in death in 1998.
Bob served in the Eighth Army Air Force from 1943-1945 and was a member of the Ohio State Patrol in 1946 and 1947. He then went into farming and was a partner in a truck stop on the south side of Napoleon. He was a member of the American Legion Post #454 in Ridgeville Corners. He and his wife owned and operated Ridgeway Drive-In. They moved to Arizona in 1975 and then to North Carolina in 1986.
He is survived by three children, Vickie Partlow of Greensboro, N.C., Vivian Zepka and her husband Gary of Newton, N.J., and Russell Hess of Cortland, Ohio; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He also has one sister, Lois Mobley of Apache Junction, Ariz.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on April 26, 2008, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Ridgeville Corners, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

William P. “Bill” Arthur, 80, of Archbold died Tuesday at Harborside Healthcare of Northwest Ohio in Bryan.
Born Oct. 19, 1927, in Gomer, Ohio, he was the son of John and Elizabeth (Peate) Arthur. On June 2, 1950, he married Jocelyn Stoll, who preceded him in death Feb. 29, 1996.
He served in the U.S. Navy, graduated in 1950 from Ohio Northern University in Ada, where he lettered four years in football, baseball and basketball, and received a master’s degree from Indiana University in Bloomington in 1960. He taught seventh grade Ohio history and driver’s education at Archbold Area Schools before retiring in 1966. He was then a salesman for LaChoy Food Products. He coached basketball at Delta Schools for one year and was the head basketball coach for 13 years, assistant football coach for 10 years and varsity baseball coach for six years at Archbold. He was inducted into the Ohio Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1959, the Ohio Northern University Hall of Fame in 1971, Archbold Athletic Boosters Hall of Fame in 2004 and District 7 Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2005. He was a member of the Archbold United Methodist Church.
He is survived by two sons, Bruce (Wendy) of Windermere, Fla., and Jack (Veronica) of Bryan; a daughter, Sue Ann (Ed) Bateman of Nelsonville, Ohio; two sisters, Betty Arthur of Gomer and Mary (Tom) Syler of Alliance; and seven grandchildren.

Ruth W. Bostelman, 83, of Liberty Center died Tuesday at her daughter’s home.
Born Sept. 24, 1924, in Gerald, she was the daughter of Alvin and Luella (Bergstedt) Miller. On July 12, 1941, she married Walter A. Bostelman, who preceded her in death Feb. 12, 1982.
A homemaker, she ran the Gerald Phone Co. as a youth with her sisters, operating the switchboard. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Liberty Center, and the Napoleon American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by five sons, Kenneth (Gayle), Robert (Connie) and William (Kathy), all of Archbold, and Richard (Denise) and Charles (Deb), both of Liberty Center; a daughter, Kathy (Lee) Slee of Liberty Center; a brother, Harlan (Dorothy) Miller of Whitehouse; five sisters, Olga Kruse, Lorna Bostelman, Millie Miller, Elnora Koppenhofer and Esther Fouts, all of Napoleon; 31 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Botjer; and two brothers, Donald and Vernon Miller.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Rev. Jeffrey Stone officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance.

Born March 14, 1958, in Lima, she was the daughter of Willis and Jeniece (Corson) Meier of Lima. On Dec. 31, 1989, she married Luther “Luke” Witte, who survives.
A homemaker, she volunteered in the community and was a former Girl Scouts leader.
She is also survived by two daughters, Susan Witte of Toledo and Sahra Witte at home; a step daughter, Gina Burks of Columbus; two brothers, Robert (Lisa) Meier of Grandview and Bo (Gina) Meier of Lancaster, Pa.; and a sister, Tracy Szilagye of Whitefish, Mont.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jean Witte.

Mary L. Gearig, 99, of Archbold died Saturday at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold.
Born Feb. 8, 1909, near West Unity, she was the daughter of Elmer and Mary (Waldvogel) Short. On Oct. 16, 1929, she married Earl Gearig, who preceded her in death July 15, 1983.
She was a cook and waitress at the former Cup ‘N Saucer Restaurant in Archbold and was a member of Central Mennonite Church near Archbold.
She is survived by a sister, Laurbell Bowers of West Unity.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Beatrice Geesey.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Short Funeral Home, Archbold, Pastor Charles Gautsche officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Grove Cemetery near West Unity.

Paul Hohenbrink, 84, of La Jolla, Calif., died Wednesday at the Cloister Nursing Home in La Jolla.
Born March 30, 1923, in Holgate, he was the son of Francis “Frank” and Theresa (Weisbecker) Hohenbrink
He worked for the Social Security Administration for 25 years. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving time in England as a secretary in president Eisenhower’s office.
He is survived by four sisters, Marge Powers and Marilyn Hohenberger, both of Holgate, Dot (Charles) Wahl of Defiance and Annette (Tom) Powers of Medina.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Donna Schuller and Judy Hohenbrink.
Services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Holgate, at a later date.

Born April 3, 1926, in Kendallville, Ind., he was the son of Ray Price and Rubay Olinghouse. On Feb. 26, 1945, he married Eileen Fausnaugh, who survives.
He was a truck driver at Wayne-Glore Trucking and was a member and elder of Defiance Christian Church and First Church of Christ in Napoleon.
He is also survived by three daughters, Connie L. (Tom) Bates of Delta, Linda Heller of Delaware and Judy A. (Larry) Kincaid of Genoa; two sons, Kenneth R. (Marcia) of Elks Rapids, Mich., and Dennis L. (Cathy) of Napoleon; a brother, Virgil Price of San Diego; a sister, Jean Miller of Cromwell, Ind.; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ed; and a sister, Betty Lemieux.

Born Dec. 30, 1922, in Swanton, he was the son of Fred and Mabel (Bolley) Perkins. On Aug. 1, 1951, he married Lillian A. McLain, who survives.
A World War II veteran, he served in the Pacific with the Army Air Corp from 1943-1945. He was a 50-year member of Alva N. Sidle Post America Legion Post #232, a 50-year member of F&AM Lodge #289 and a member of Order of Eastern Star, all in Grand Rapids. He retired from Mid-American Banking Corp. after 40 years of service.
He is also survived by two daughters, Jean Bittinger of Bryan and Carol Armstrong of Grand Rapids; a brother, John of Toledo; a sister, Mary Ann Kessler of Liberty Center; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ada Taylor; a brother, Carl; and a grandchild.

Rev. Paul R. Oberhaus, 66, of North Ridgeville died Friday at St. John West Shore Hospital in Westlake, Ohio.
Born Sept. 18, 1941, in Holgate, he was the son of Lorena M. Oberhaus of Holgate and the late Raymond G. Oberhaus. He married Sharon K. Carr, who survives.
He received his bachelor’s degree in education and his master’s degree in chemistry from Bowling Green State University and graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Ind., in 1995. He had been serving as pastor of Shepherd of the Ridge Lutheran Church since 1995, and prior to that, he taught chemistry, physics, math and drivers’ education for Deshler and Patrick Henry High School in Hamler from 1963-1994. He organized the science fairs for the high school and the regional finals at Defiance College. He also taught general chemistry at Defiance College for seven years in the 1970s. For most of his life, he was active with the Lutheran Layman’s League, where he was currently serving as pastoral advisor of the Ohio District.
He is also survived by two sons, Brian (Michelle) of Defiance and Phillip (Kathy) of Elyria; two daughters, Angela (Tom) Chester of Kentwood, Ohio, and Susan (Mike) Jackemeyer of Buchanan, Mich.; four brothers, Harold of Bowling Green, Luther of Louisville, Ky., Jim of Columbus Grove and Jerry of Holgate; and five grandchildren.

James Gary “Hunker” Haas, 67, of Deshler died Friday at his residence.
Born Sept. 10, 1940, in Deshler, he was the son of Earl and Crystal (Parsons) Haas. On Feb. 17, 1962, he married Ardyth Mohr, who survives.
He previously worked for Stout Construction of Sylvania, Kuesel Farms of Deshler and the former Columbus Bolt, also of Deshler. He was a member of the Eagle’s Lodge #2793 of Leipsic and was a longtime player with the Leipsic Eagles and the Deshler Merchants softball teams.
He is also survived by a daughter, Karren (Bruce) Blue of Hamler; two sons, Darren (Brenda) and Gary, both of Deshler; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Junior; and a sister, Virginia Ward.

Vainard “Vain” Spiess, 86, of Delta died Friday morning at Fulton Manor in Wauseon.
Born June 7, 1921, in Wauseon, he was the son of Forest and Irene (Mohler) Spiess. On June 23, 1946, he married Betty Jeanne Geer, who survives.
He was a World War II veteran, having served with the U.S. Army. He was commander of the American Legion Post #373 “Staccatoes” drill team in the 1950s, leading them to numerous state and national championships. He was the former owner of the Chrysler Dealership, Spiess Motor Sales, and later was the owner of Vain’s Air and Auto in Delta.
He is also survived by two sons, Vainard (Susie) of New Washington, Ohio, and Lyndon (Denise) of Bryan; a daughter, Susan (Steve) Wood of Wauseon; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Barnes Funeral Chapel, Rev. Karen A. Crawford officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Delta.

Rev. Virgil O. Wittenberg, 73, died Wednesday at Grant Hospital.
He was the son of Otto and Luella (Buchop) Wittenberg.
He graduated from Capital University and Trinity Seminary and took several courses at Duke Divinity School. He was the pastor of several churches including Trinity Lutheran in East Rochester, N.Y., Abiding Saviour in Durham, N.C., Trinity Lutheran in Gibsonia, Pa., and St. Mark’s in Butler, Pa. He also served as vice president of the ALC Eastern District.
He is survived by his wife, Janet; a daughter, Julie Wittenberg of Kaiserslautern, Germany; a son, Paul (Pam) of Grove City; a brother, Vernon (Carole) of Findlay; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Veneda Benecke; and two brothers, Harold and Wilbur Wittenberg.
Services will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Grove City. Interment will be at St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery. A worship service will also be held at 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon Township, with visitation beginning at 10:30.

A World War II Army veteran, he was employed for 17 years at Struble and Son Construction and retired Nov. 15, 1991, from Bard Manufacturing after 10 years of service. He was a member of Apostolic Gospel Church in Bryan and a life member of Bryan V.F.W. Post #2489.
He is survived by three sons, Neddy (Alda Jean) of Montpelier, Freddy of Lima and Rev. Joe (Ronna) of Fort Wayne, Ind.; three daughters, Terry Gutierrez of Denver, Sue (Charley) Jones of Montpelier and Margarita Gutierrez of Bryan; a sister, Mercedes Jimenez of Bryan; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and his caretaker, Audelia Gutierrez of Bryan.
He was also preceded in death by two sons, Eddy and Teddy Gutierrez Jr.; two infant daughters, Marjorie and Karen Gutierrez; three brothers, Joe, John and Demas; and four great-grandchildren.

Martha E. Sullivan, 90, of rural Stryker died Wednesday at Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice.
Born Oct. 11, 1917, in Delta, she was the daughter of John Richard and Ella Opal (Huyck) Green. On March 8, 1936, she married Robert S. Sullivan, who preceded her in death Dec. 3, 1987.
She received a bachelor of science in education from Bowling Green State University in August 1971 and her master’s degree in education from BGSU in August 1976. She was a teacher at Archbold Elementary School for 19 years and a member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association, Williams County Retired Teachers Association and Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society. In the 1950s, ‘60s and ‘70s, she was a Williams County 4-H advisor, a Red Cross volunteer and an election board member. In the 1980s and ‘90s, she worked with the Laubach Reading Program and also continued to educate young people by tutoring in Stryker and Archbold following her retirement.
She is survived by a son, Larry (Denise) of Stryker; a daughter, Anna Marie (Jeff) Sprow of Stryker; a brother, Charles Green of Ocala, Fla.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Marion Francis, Nelson and Lyle Richard Green; two sisters, Mary (Glenn) Short and Louise Green; and a grandchild.

Willis D. “Bill” Yackee, 88, of Findlay died at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at Fox Run Manor in Findlay.
He was born in Henry County, Ohio, on July 23, 1919, to the late John and Emma (Franz) Yackee. Willis married Lucille Brubaker on Sept. 27, 1942, and she survives.
He is also survived by one son, Bruce (Amy) Yackee of Findlay; and two daughters, Linda (Albert) Laux of Findlay and Lana (Sam) Foust of Sylvania; six grandchildren, Kristen Poploskie, Christopher, Andrea and Mark Laux, Shannon Springer and Kelly Walker; and five great-grandchildren.
A brother, Warren, preceded him in death.
Willis served our country in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a graduate of Bowling Green State University in business administration. He was retired from Marathon Oil Co. and Ball Metal Container. He was a member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge. Willis was a longtime summer resident of Jimmerson Shores near Angola, Ind., where he loved to go fishing with his children and grandchildren and visiting with his neighbors. He enjoyed outdoor activities, especially playing golf and tennis and watching his grandchildren play sports.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2008, at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay, with Rev. Todd Frail officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at St. John United Church of Christ, Holgate, Ohio.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 2-6 p.m. and Monday, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

A longtime resident of Archbold, she moved to Toledo in 1980 and was a homemaker. She was a member of Archbold United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Jack Miller of Weston and Michael Miller of Toledo; and a sister, Marvel Lott of Missoula, Mont.

Lloyd E. Armstrong, 84, of Archbold died Monday at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold.
Born April 25, 1923, near Stryker, he was the son of Clifford “J.C.” and Barbara (Short) Armstrong. On March 18, 1945, he married Thelma Rufenacht, who survives.
He worked for Dennis Nofziger Construction and I&K Feeds of Archbold and retired in 1986 from Sauder Manufacturing Co. of Archbold, where he worked for more than 20 years. After retirement, he worked at Sauder Village. He was a member of Central Mennonite Church near Archbold.
He is also survived by a son, Larry (Beverly) of Archbold; two daughters, Joan (Howard) Greene of Surprise, Ariz., and Nancy (Jim) Emens of Waldron, Mich.; a brother, Jesse of Archbold; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Keith; two brothers, Carl Armstrong and Robert, an infant; and three sisters, Pearl Sigg, Aretha Hausch and Hilda Dohm.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Central Mennonite Church, Pastor Jeffrey Smith, Pastor Wanda Stopher, Pastor Bill Holsopple and Pastor Charles Gautsche officiating. Graveside services will precede at 10 a.m. at the Pettisville Cemetery.

Lawrence W. Barnes, 84, of Napoleon and formerly of Hamler died Tuesday at Golden LivingCenter-Northcrest of Napoleon.
Born Oct. 11, 1923, near McClure, he was the son of Carl H. and Mary B. (Kipp) Barnes. On June 20, 1948, he married Natalie L. Knapp, who preceded him in death on Aug. 20, 1984.
He farmed all his life in Hamler before moving to Napoleon in 2000. He spent two years in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a previous Cub Scout Master in Hamler, former Hamler Elevator director and Henry County Red Cross director for more than 25 years. He was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church of Hamler, where he served as Sunday school superintendent, served on council, was a member of the dart ball team and 100th Anniversary Committee and was custodian for 20 years. He was also a member of Hamler American Legion Post #262 and a life member of the D.A.V. He was elected to serve as a community and county committeeman for the A.S.C. for more than 20 years.
He is survived by two sons, Wayne (Patricia) and William (Maria), both of Hamler; four daughters, Linda Coger of Dandridge, Tenn., Nancy (Gary) Backhaus of Defiance, Mariann (Terry) Reiter of Deshler and Laura (Michael) Hoff of Wauseon; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Richard; a sister, Marilyn Barnes; a great-grandchild; and special friend and companion Lois M. Wiechers.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Rev. Sharon Stonerock officiating. Interment will follow at Hope-St. Stephen Cemetery of Hamler, where military honors will be accorded by the Hamler American Legion Post #262. A luncheon will be held at the church following the burial.
Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Snyder-Wesche Funeral Home, Napoleon, and an hour prior to services Friday at the church.

Robert Charles Phillips, 69, of Deshler, Ohio, died Sunday morning, March 2, 2008, at the Briar Hill Health Campus, North Baltimore, Ohio.
He was born Feb. 2, 1939, in Bartlow Township, Henry County, to the late Howard and Leona (Meyer) Phillips. On Nov. 26, 1959, he married Prudentia “Prudy” Dunn in Ottawa, Ohio, and she survives.
Robert was a 1957 graduate of McComb High School, McComb, Ohio, and served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves from 1957-1965. He worked as a plumber with the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #50 of Toledo, Ohio, and the L.L. Babcock Co., Napoleon, Ohio, for over 26 years, retiring in 2001.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Deshler; a former member of the Deshler Board of Public Affairs; the Deshler American Legion Post #316 and a former director and member of the Maumee Valley Sportsmen Club, Malinta, Ohio.
Robert is also survived by a daughter, Celest (Don) Breece Jr., Deshler; three sons, Carey (Grace) Phillips, Delta, Ohio, Lonnie (Janelle) Phillips, Woodville, Ohio, and Kelly (Lauri) Phillips, Malinta; seven grandchildren, Hilary Phillips, Hailey Phillips, Shelby Phillips, Madeline Phillips, Parker Phillips, Peyton Phillips and Kyleigh Breece; three brothers, Donald Phillips, Deshler, Thomas Phillips, McComb, and Ralph Phillips, Texas; and a sister, Jeanette Qualls, Linden, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Faye Hooker.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Deshler, with Father Jeff Nordhaus officiating. Interment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Deshler American Legion Post #316. A luncheon will follow the burial in the Immaculate Conception Church fellowship hall.
Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler, where a Scripture Service will be held at 8:30 p.m.

Lillian Alma Fischer, 84, of Okolona died Monday at Vancrest Health Care Center in Holgate.
Born May 19, 1923, in Henry County, she was the daughter of Jacob and Caroline (Sonnenberg) Rettig. On Sept. 24, 1949, she married Eldor Henry Fischer, who preceded her in death Oct. 18, 1987.
A homemaker, she was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Okolona and its Ladies Circle.
She is survived by a son, Ronald J. of Defiance; two daughters, Karen J. Huber of Napoleon and Rita R. Wagner of Okolona; and a grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Reinhart and Herbert Rettig; and six sisters, Viola Rohrs, Verna Panning, Emma Cohrs, Laura Armbruster, Sylvia Monthaven and Henrietta Schwiebert.

She was preceded in death by twin brothers, Leon and Leroy Rupp.

Terrence N. Tester, 68, of Sylvania and formerly of Grand Rapids died Sunday at Swanton Health Care and Retirement Center.
Born Jan. 9, 1940, in Neapolis, he was the son of Charles Edward and Marcella M. “Sally” (Black) Tester.
He was retired from Hunt Wesson, now Con Agra, in Perrysburg. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1959-63 as a hospital corpsmen at the U.S. Navy Hospital in Quantico, Va.
He is survived by a brother, Gregory A. of Swanton.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia A. Womack.

She was the daughter of the late Glenn and Marilyn (Ruger) Mattin.
She volunteered at Hands of Grace and with the Pantherettes and participated in the Delta Community Band. She also served Wauseon High School as a band mom and camp chaperone. She worshipped at Oasis Christian Fellowship in Wauseon.
She is survived by a daughter, Sarah Marie; five sisters, Bonnie (Larry) Hudspeath, Cheryl Mattin, Angela Mattin, Gay (Troy) Borton and Ant Pat; and special friends Kerry and Linda Welch.

Charles E. “Chuck” or “Chopper” Yackee, 67, of Manitou Beach, Mich., and formerly of Wauseon died Saturday at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Born July 31, 1940, in Wauseon, he was the son of Lewis L. and Helen M. (Kolb) Yackee. On Oct. 15, 1966, he married Marilyn Tietje, who survives.
He was an Army veteran and a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Wauseon, and attended Lutheran Church of the Lakes in Manitou Beach. He was a lifelong barber in Wauseon and in Michigan. He owned and operated Wauseon Refuse service from 1979-1992 and was a Wauseon fireman from 1965-1985 and also an assistant chief. He played in a jazz band, the Lil’ Abners, for many years and was an Elks and Wauseon Sportsmans Club member.
He is also survived by a son, Monty (Kassia) of Tecumseh, Mich.; a brother, James (Christine) of Wauseon; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wauseon, Rev. Timothy Sonnenberg and Rev. Roger Marlow officiating. Interment will be at Wauseon Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. today at Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon.

Iona M. Brown, 85, of Stryker died Friday at Harborside Healthcare Center in Bryan.
Born June 1, 1922, in Melbern, Ohio, she was the daughter of Leo and Mada (Stantz) Penrod. On July 25, 1941, she married Drexell W. Brown, who preceded her in death June 4, 1997.
She was an employee of Spangler Candy Co. in Bryan for five years, worked at the former Metal Forge in Stryker and retired from Fulton Tubing in 1982. She was a member of Stryker United Methodist Church and Moose Lodge.
She is survived by a son, Kenneth W. (Sandra) of Stryker; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley L. Brown; a son, Richard Z.; two brothers, Floyd and Denver Penrod; and a sister, Leda Andres.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grisier Funeral Home, Stryker, Pastor Crystal Goodnight officiating. Family graveside services and interment will be private.

He worked in maintenence for SFI in Columbia City, Ind.
He is also survived by a sister, Kimberly Skates of Monticello, Ind.; a brother, Wesley of Wauseon; and grandparents Howard and Sandy Skates of Wauseon and Bill and Diane Wheeler of Wauseon.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Burl and Amelia Sickmiller.

Ronnie Rachael, 58, of Deshler died Sunday at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay.
Born July 17, 1949, in Hattiesburg, Miss., he was the son of the late Philip and Jo Lottie (Pierce) Rachael. On March 8, 2003, he married Deanna L. Whit, who survives.
He received an associates degree from Lincoln College in Lincoln, Ill., and served in the U.S. Army from 1969-1971 during the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart and combat infantry badge. He was a truck driver with Black Hawk Express in Findlay and a member of AMVETS Post #711 in Bowling Green.
He is also survived by two daughters, Shana Mastlier of Deshler and Jamie Rachael of Algoma, Wis.; three step sons, Kevin Mowel of McClure and James Mowel and Joseph Mowel, both of Deshler; two brothers, Bill (Pam) of Wayne, Ohio, and George (Fay) of Seymour, Tenn.; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Louis; and two sisters, Grace Forbus and Pauline Bailey.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Deshler, Chaplain Dave Templeton officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Deshler, where military graveside honors will be accorded by AMVETS Post #711.

Born June 22, 1946, in Donna, Texas, he was the son of Tomas Benavidez Sr. and Magdalena Mora. On July 15, 1972, he married Gloria E. Garcia, who survives.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served in Vietnam and was a V.F.W. Post #3360 life member and a member of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #954 and AMVETS Post #1991. He worked at Ferrco Corp. in Stryker for 11 years and was a member of Restoration Tabernacle Church.
He is also survived by two daughters, Donna Crystal (Jason) Dohm and Sara Linda (Roger) Wheeler Sr., both of Defiance; four brothers, Pablo (Eziquel) of Donna, Abel of Corpus Christi, Texas, Juan Javier (Johnny) of Daphine, Ala., and David of Melbourne, Fla.; four sisters, Eva B. Perez of Houston, Texas, Genovea (Ginny) Miller-Swenson of Arlington, Texas, Rosalinda (Linda) Hunter of DeMoines, Iowa, and Gloria Macias of Weslaco, Texas; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Francisco (Frankie); and two grandchildren.

Virginia E. Wyatt, 81, of Bowling Green and formerly of Woodland, Calif., died Friday at Bowling Green Manor.
Born Feb. 18, 1927, in Salvy, N.Y., she was the daughter of William and Pearl (Pratt) French and was later adopted by Frank and Mary Steinel. On March 27, 1948, she married Colen Wyatt, who preceded her in death.
A homemaker, she was employed by the United States Census Bureau, a member of the Woodland Presbyterian Church and a Sunday school teacher. She was past president of the Woodland Hospital Auxiliary and a member of the Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority in both California and Ohio.
She is survived by four daughters, Bonnie (Bruce) Leonard of Fair Oaks, Calif., Chris (Ronald) Nickey of Bowling Green, Vicki (Mark) Hansen of The Woodlands, Texas, and Jane Wyatt of Auburn, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Steve; and a daughter, Deborah Wyatt.
Services will be held at a later date in Woodland.

Ruth M. Kieffer, 78, of McClure died Friday morning at her son’s residence in Gahanna, Ohio.
Born March 14, 1929, in McClure, she was the daughter of the late Cecil M. and Mary E. (Kistner) Bretz. On Feb. 22, 1952, she married Glenn “Sandy” Kieffer in Celina, and he preceded her in death Feb. 5, 1996.
A graduate of Deshler High School in 1947 and from Bowling Green State University in 1950 with a bachelors of science in education, she was a second-grade teacher at C.D. Brilhart in Napoleon for 23 years before retiring in 1986. She previously taught in Celina for two years. She was a member of Custar Church of Christ, Henry County Genealogy Society and Henry County Historical Society. She was also a member of the Henry County Retired Teachers Association, the Ohio Retired Teachers Association and the Delta Zeta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority.
She is survived by four sons, David (Donna) of Gahanna, Brad (Trish) of West Lafayette, Ohio, Jack (Denise) of Hilliard and Brian (Jean) of Greenwich, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Mary Kieffer of Custar; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, Rodney and Ralph, and a brother, Martin Bretz.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon, with Pastor James Erven officiating. Interment will follow in the Milton Township Cemetery, Custar.

E. Louise Zimmerman, 80, of Stryker died Friday at Community Hospitals and Wellness Center in Bryan.
Born in Williams County on Jan. 13, 1928, she was the daughter of Earl and Alta (Coy) Schlosser. On Feb. 5, 1949, she married Clarence Zimmerman, who survives.
Prior to her retirement, she worked at the Colonial Manor, Bryan, for 10 years as the manager in housekeeping, was employed at Hill’s 5 & 10 Cent Store, Stryker, and worked at Murphy’s 5 & 10 Cent Store, Bryan. She was also a member of the Bryan V.F.W. Auxillary.
She is also survived by a daughter, Sandra (Robert) Seigneur of Pioneer; two sons, Michael of Bryan and Jerry (Connie) of Stryker; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sue Ann Zimmerman; two brothers, Robert and Donald; and two sisters, Evelyn and Bernadine.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Grisier Funeral Home, Stryker, with Rev. John MacFarlane officiating. Interment will follow in the Evansport Cemetery.

Charles Clinton McGowan, 55, of rural Montpelier died Thursday in his home following a brief illness.
Born in Wauseon on Aug. 5, 1952, he was the son of Lowell and the late Anna (Clark) McGowan.
A 1970 graduate of West Unity High School, he graduated from Bowling Green State University with a degree in teaching in 1974. He taught high school history and Earth science at Wayne County Vocational School in Wooster, Ohio, for 29 years.
He is also survived by a sister, Mary Doriot of Defiance, and a brother, William of Fort Wayne, Ind.
Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Grisier Funeral Home, Stryker, with Pastor Mike Wilder officiating.
