INDIANAPOLIS — Napoleon sophomore Carlee Hohenbrink finished 14th overall out of 298 bowlers in the U15 girls division at the Junior Gold Championships from July 15-16.
Hohenbrink received $600 in scholarship money as she earned a spot in the winners bracket with a top-16 finish through multiple qualifying rounds.
Hohenbrink averaged a 190.3 through 26 qualifying games, surviving a series of cuts, to rank 10th and advance to match play.
Hohenbrink lost both matches, first to eventual finalist Sydney Bohn (372-342) and to Katelyn Abigania (414-307) in the elimination bracket.
Also for the Lady Cats, Ella Fox averaged a 173.1 in 26 games to finish 118th out of 560 bowlers in the girls 18U Division and earn $200 in scholarship money. Spencer Schwaiger (146.4) was 494th.
In the boys 18U division, Napoleon senior Jacob Hull tied for 679th out of 1169 bowlers with a 171.8 average in 16 games.
Napoleon sophomore Riley Ehlers averaged a 163.2 in 16 games to tie for 366th out of 631 competitors in the boys 15U division.
Jakob Yocom, of Wauseon, was 84th (146.3 avg., 16 games) in the boys 12U division, while Kimberlee Yocom, Jakob’s older sister, was 262nd (139.1 avg.) after 16 games in the first qualifying round.
