Liberty Center FFA

The Liberty Center FFA has had a full start to their year. With a chapter that is 170 members strong, the excitement for what this year will bring is contagious. The chapter kicked off the school year with a chapter FFA meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 18. The members discussed upcoming career development events and National FFA Convention, which will be held Oct. 30-Nov. 1 in Indianapolis, Indiana. After the meeting, the FFA members enjoyed bratwursts, chips, cookies and watermelon. Tuesday, Sept. 24, the Liberty Center FFA had their first career development event of the year: soil judging. Participants judged the soil for either rural or urban purposes. For rural soil, participants had to determine slope, erosion, soil texture, depth and drainage. The urban participants had to determine slope, land form, flooding hazard, soil stability, soil texture, depth to seasonal high water table and depth to bedrock. Soil judging results will be posted on our social media pages when released. The members are excited and eagerly preparing for our dairy judging and dairy foods contests, which will be held today.
