DEFIANCE — A Defiance County grand jury Tuesday indicted two men on first-degree felony charges, according to the Defiance County Prosecutor’s Office.
Nathaniel Byrd Jr., 43, of Defiance was indicted on one count of involuntary manslaughter, a first-degree felony, and one count of felonious assault, a second-degree felony.
Authorities allege Byrd assaulted Johnny Jimenez, 67, of Defiance outside of a business on Spruce Street and caused serious physical harm to Jimenez, who died six days later due to the injuries he suffered from the assault.
Don A. McGhee, 50, formerly of Defiance, was indicted on two counts of rape involving a child less than 13 years old, each a first-degree felony punishable by up to life imprisonment.
Authorities allege, on two occasions between Aug. 1, 2017 and May 31, 2018, in Defiance, McGhee engaged in sexual conduct with a female juvenile under the age of 13.
