HOLGATE — During its meeting Monday, the Holgate Local Schools Board of Education welcomed two new members and organized for the upcoming year.

Returning member Greg Thomas and new board members Adam Eis and Brian Post took the oath of office to start the meeting.

Thomas will continue to serve as president of the board for 2020, and Darlene Hoffman will also remain vice president.

The board will keep its meeting schedule of the third Monday of the month at 6 p.m.

Board committees will be as follows: Hoffman and Post will serve on the Board Policy Review Committee; Eis will be the legislative liaison; Liza Schuller will be the student achievement liaison; and Thomas will be on the Audit Committee.

The board also approved its annual procedures, including establishing a board service fund in the amount of $3,000; appointing the superintendent to be the purchasing agent for 2020; authorizing the superintendent to expend up to a maximum of $50,000 for capital improvements without using the bidding process; purchasing a public official bond in the amount of $20,000; appointing the treasurer to serve on the Henry County Enterprise Zone Tax Incentive Review Council for 2020; approving the district’s record commission to include the superintendent, treasurer and board president; and appointing the board president as treasurer pro-tem in the absence of the treasurer.

The board also:

•Approved an overnight trip to Chicago April 22-23 for the Spanish IV class.

•Approved an overnight trip to Columbus April 30-May 1 for the Ohio FFA State Spring Convention for FFA members and high school officers.

•Accepted the donation of a Christmas tree and decorations from the Wal-Mart store in Ottawa.
