BRYAN — Bryan police arrested a Napoleon man they believe to have had sexual contact with a minor.
Bryan Police executed a search warrant at 303 Sheffield Ave. in Napoleon last week and subsequently arrested Leslie M.R. Tietje, 40, of Napoleon, who was taken in without incident, according to a statement from Bryan Police Department.
Napoleon police aided in the arrest.
A charge filed in Bryan Municipal Court indicates Tietje is charged with felony unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, for allegedly engaging in sexual conduct with an individual between the age of 13-16 on Feb. 10.
Bryan Police Detective Tracy Williamson headed up the investigation, according to Bryan Municipal Court records.
Tietje was booked at CCNO on Tuesday.
He appeared in Bryan Municipal Court on Wednesday, where his bond was set at $10,000. He was also appointed an attorney, Ryan Breininger.
Bryan Municipal Court Judge Kent L. North recused himself from the case and requested the Ohio Supreme Court to appoint a presiding judge in the matter.
Tietje posted bond and was ordered to have no contact with anyone under the age of 18 and was ordered to turn in all firearms to Bryan Police.
Tietje was employed by the Napoleon Police Department from March 23, 2016, until his resignation Oct. 31 as an unpaid auxiliary officer. According to an official with the City of Napoleon, he had no history of disciplinary issues.
Napoleon Police Chief David Mack issued a statement Wednesday, saying Tietje’s resignation from the auxiliary was “well prior” to the current allegations and that his resignation was in no way related to these allegations.
Prior to that time, he also served as a corrections officer at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio (CCNO) from 2001 to 2005. An official with the jail indicated he did not have any history of disciplinary issues there either.
