DESHLER — The Henry County Sheriff’s Office reported an individual was charged as a result of a vehicle-pedestrian hit-skip crash Friday.
A press release issued by Henry County Sheriff Michael Bodenbender states the office was dispatched at 6:53 a.m. for the crash. The victim was identified as Jenny Lee Krauss, 67, of Deshler. Krauss was transported to an area hospital by air ambulance.
An investigation was immediately launched to find the vehicle, which was located minutes following the crash. It was reported the driver then fled by foot. The press release states an investigation led to an individual believed to be the driver and he is an undocumented immigrant from Mexico.
A traffic stop was conducted at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Village of Deshler, and the suspect, Ulises Morales, 19, was found in the vehicle and was taken into custody without incident.
Morales has been charged with aggravated vehicular assault, a felony of the third degree. The crash is reported to still be under investigation, and more criminal charges are expected.
