The following is an Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) update on a project which is constructing a new bridge over the Maumee River near Napoleon. The $10.3 million project began in February and will be completed in June 2022. Vernon Nagel Inc., Napoleon, is the general contractor.

Currently happening ...

This week, the concrete for pier cap No. 6 was poured on Monday, while No. 7 was poured today. That completes all pier column and pier cap work on piers No. 4 through No. 7. The piers are numbered for construction purposes 1-7, with 7 being the most northern pier.

What’s coming up ...

For the next few weeks, work on the bridge will be suspended until the bridge beams arrive. Work will resume Aug. 17 with beam setting which is expected to take place most of that week. At that time, work on the south bridge abutment will also begin.

Fun fact ...

When beam setting begins, crews expect to complete one span a day. There are four beams per span.
