WAUSEON — The Wauseon Exempted Village Board of Education recently approved a new contract with teachers.

The board ratified a tentative memorandum agreement with the Wauseon Education Association, effective Sept. 1. The three-year contract includes a 1.8% wage increase the first year, a 1.9% increase the second year and a 2% increase the third year.

The increase will also be applied to all classified employees and bus drivers.

The board also approved a modification in the administrative compensation package in lieu of a percentage salary increase for the 2019-20 school year. However, administrative salary increases will follow the education association’s increases for 2020-21 and 2021-22.

In other personnel matters, the board approved one-year, certified contracts for the 2019-20 school year for the following: Brittani Gerken, elementary school intervention specialist; Lydia Badenhop, middle school intervention specialist.

A one-year classified contract was approved for Catherine Held as a playground aide at the primary school.

McKayla Pettit received a one-year athletic supplemental contract as the ninth grade volleyball coach. Derek Rupp was approved as a volunteer football coach.

The board also:

•Set breakfast and lunch prices for the 2019-20 school year as follows: $1.45 for breakfast at the primary school and elementary/middle school; $1.60 for breakfast at the high school; $2.35 for lunch at the primary school; $2.55 for lunch at the elementary/middle school; $2.65 for lunch at the high school; $2.85 for an adult lunch; and $1.90 for a la carte. This is the first increase since the 2017-18 school year.

•Established the insurance protection fund payment of $30 for the 1:1 computer initiative for the 2019-20 school year.

•Accepted the following donations: $50.02 from Christ United Methodist Church for May after-school snacks and $6,000 from Wauseon Machine to the Wauseon Machine Scholarship Fund.
