ARCHBOLD — All dads will receive free admission to Sauder Village on Father’s Day and kids 16 and younger are free every Sunday this season.

In addition to the free admission deals on June 16, families can visit with farm animals, take a free ride on the Erie Express Train, and visit historic homes and community shops. Guests can now take a walk into a more modern age while exploring part of the 1920s Main Street.

The relocated District 16 schoolhouse and doctor’s office, as well as the barbershop, depot and bandstand are now open at the 1920s Main Street. By mid-summer, plans call for the livery, car dealership and gas station to also be ready. Throughout the Village guests can also view craftsmen working in places like the Cooper’s Shop, Pottery Shop, Blacksmith Shop and Woodworking Shop. Families can also purchase treats at Stella Leona Chocolates & Coffees as well as the Ice-Cream Parlor.

Sunday, June 16 is also the last day of the annual Agriculture Adventures event with “Meet the Animals” programs scheduled throughout the afternoon as well as goat and cow milking demonstrations, story time and kiddie horse races.

Another option for a Father’s Day celebration at Sauder Village is the traditional Father’s Day Buffet from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. at the Barn Restaurant. Reservations are recommended for groups of eight or more for the buffet featuring roast beef, Barn chicken, ham and dressing. Call 419-445-2231 or 1-800-590-9755 to make reservations.

Historic Sauder Village is open on Father’s Day from noon–4 p.m. For more information about Father’s Day and other events planned for the 2019 season at Sauder Village, call 1-800-590-9755 or visit
