Earlier this week, the Henry County commissioners approved a contract between the Henry County engineer and the Ohio Council 8 of the American Federal of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO Local #2900.

Henry County Engineer Tim Schumm said the contract includes a 3.5% wage increase each year for the next three years. Schumm outlined a few additional changes in the contract, including an increase to comp time accrual from 40 hours to 60 hours. Payments to AFSCME Care Plan (vision, dental and hearing aid) were eliminated and, instead, there will be an additional $500 added to their health savings account annually, starting in 2021. They are and have been eligible to pick up vision and dental coverage through the county at their cost.

The contract covers 16 employees at the county highway garage.

The three-year contract goes into effect June 12.
