LIBERTY CENTER — The Liberty Center Middle School and High School Guidance Departments recently announced the 2021 Yellow Ribbon Campaign will be the week of Sept. 7-10.

Suicide is the second leading cause of death among Ohioans ages 10-25. With the help of Maumee Valley Guidance Center, Liberty Center students in grades six through 12 will be educated about how to recognize the signs of depression in themselves and others, as well as how to access specialized 24-hour support.

Once again, the Yellow Ribbon Campaign will be punctuated by a bake sale duel to raise money for the Four County Area Suicide Prevention Coalition. This year the Tigers will be challenging the Wauseon Indians at the varsity football game on Friday at Rex Lingruen Stadium. Community members are asked to consider supporting this event by bringing baked goods to the Liberty Center table at Lingruen Stadium by 6 p.m. Friday. Proceed totals will be announced at the end of each quarter, with the Tigers and Indians competing for bragging rights in support of this worthy cause.

This year’s Yellow Ribbon student co-chairs are Makayla Mays and Ariana Nonenmacher at the high school. The junior high student co-chairs are Addison Naveau and Colbie Strayer.
