LC memorial

Liberty Center Local Schools Superintendent Richie Peters said final landscaping work recently started on the Liberty Center Veterans Memorial Wall. He said this is the final step in completing the project, with the area being redone in tandem with the project that constructed a new K-12 facility and demolished the former high school building located nearby. The memorial wall is typically the location of a brief ceremony in the middle of the annual Memorial Day parade in the village, but those events were canceled for 2020 in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was also recently reported that the village’s annual cemetery ceremony is canceled as well. Still, Peters said the district wished to have the site looking as best as it can for the holiday. “It’s important to the community, the veterans, and all who have served,” he said.
