Two injuries were reported in a crash between a car and a dump truck in Monroe Township at 3:01 p.m. Wednesday. According to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Danielle L. Barrientes, 27, of Leipsic was southbound on County Road 11 approaching the intersection with County Road L. The intersection has a posted stop sign requiring traffic traveling on Road 11 to stop at the intersection and yield the right of way to traffic on Road L. According to the report, Barrientes pulled into the path of a dump truck operated by Todd A. Rettig, 55, of Napoleon, who was westbound on Road L, causing a collision between the two vehicles. Both vehicles traveled off the south side of Road L. Barrientes’ vehicle came to rest on its wheels in a ditch on the south side of Road L, and the dump truck overturned onto its right side before coming to rest in the same ditch alongside Road L. Barrientes was extricated from her vehicle by mechanical means and was transported by air ambulance to Mercy St. Vincent’s Hospital in Toledo with serious injuries. Rettig was transported to Henry County Hospital by Malinta EMS with minor injuries. According to the report, Barrientes was wearing a seat belt and Rettig was not wearing his seat belt. Both vehicles were disabled.
