Liberty Center’s large sophomore class led Henry County schools in Northwest Ohio Athletic League softball selections released by the conference Sunday afternoon.
The Lady Tigers’ sophomore catcher Emma St. Clair was the only county player selected to the NWOAL first team.
Also named to the first team were Archbold’s Natalie Nofziger and Reagan Kohler; Wauseon seniors Autumn Pelok and Jayli Vasquez; Evergreen’s Macy Chamberlin and Brooklyn Richardson; Bryan’s Addie Arnold and Ella Voigt; and Swanton’s Brie Williams.
Chamberlin, a sophomore, was also named the NWOAL player of the year, while Archbold coach Andrea Thiel was voted as the coach of the year.
LC and Patrick Henry each had a second-team selection.
Eliza Jones, a sophomore, was named to the second team for LC, while Lady Patriots senior Jazmine Miranda was also a second-team pick.
Other area players selected to the second team included Archbold seniors Carsyn Hagans and Harley Phillips and Wauseon’s Ava Kovar, a freshman, and sophomore Ella Hageman.
County schools each had three honorable mentions.
Liberty Center senior Kylee Kern and sophomore teammates Eme Gray and Molly Perry were honorable mentions. Patrick Henry’s honorable mentions included senior Kelsey Smith and freshmen Kasey Nelson and Mariah Boyer.
Also named as honorable mention were Archbold’s Bre Boysel and Addison Ziegler and Wauseon freshman Aubrianna Everly.
