SHERWOOD – Fairview’s softball team took care of business with an 11-0 win in five innings over Spencerville in a Division III sectional final on Friday at Fairview High School.
Fairview (21-1), the No. 1 seed in the Lima District, will face No. 4 Wayne Trace (6-12) in a district semifinal at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Lima Bath High School.
Paige Ricica and Allison Rhodes each homered for the Apaches and Ricica tossed a no-hitter. Sydney Merritt went 1 for 2 with a double and two runs scored.
EDGERTON – Edgerton’s softball team scored eight runs in the third inning that helped the Bulldogs earn a 13-1 nonconference win over Stryker on Friday at Sharon Shaffer Field in Edgerton.
Noelle Ritter continued her historic season (most home runs in a single season in program history) with a 3 for 3 performance that included a home run, triple and single for Edgerton (17-6).
Olivia Wallace allowed just one hit in the circle and went 2 for 3 at the plate with a double.
Brooke Collins had a single for Stryker (8-11).
MONTPELIER – Hicksville’s softball team rattled off eight unanswered runs after Kelsie Bumb bombed a two-run home run in the first inning for Montpelier to give the Aces an 8-2 nonconference win on Friday at Superior Athletic Complex in Montpelier.
Lillybell Porter poked a solo home run for Hicksville (11-15) and Addie Sanders snagged a double and single.
Bianca Phongphiou pitched three innings for Montpelier (15-7).
EDON – Edon’s softball team defeated Fayette 18-1 in a nonconference game Friday at Edon High School.
The Bombers improved to 5-16, while Fayette dropped to 0-13.
No stats were reported before deadline.
MAUMEE — Wauseon had five hits and did not draw a walk in a 10-0 five-inning loss to higher-seeded Maumee in a Division II district quarterfinal Friday.
Ella Albright doubled to lead the fifth-seeded Lady Indians (7-14), while Brianna Hays, Ava Kovar, Bella McGuire and Ella Hageman each had a single.
Wauseon travels to Antwerp for a game Monday.
DEFIANCE — Tinora scored five runs in the first inning and raced to a 6-0 Division III district quarterfinal win over Swanton Friday.
Lyla Carrizales singled twice for two of the Bulldogs’ three hits. Carrizales also walked, while Alexa Faber singled.
Taylor Forrest suffered the loss, allowing six runs on six hits with zero walks and seven strikeouts.
Swanton finishes its season at 10-10 overall.
PEMBERVILLE — Seventh-seeded Archbold bowed out of the tournament Friday in a 9-2 loss to second-seeded Eastwood in a Division III district quarterfinal.
Bre Boysel and Makena Thiel each singled to lead the Lady Streaks, who dropped to 14-9 overall.
Natalie Nofziger took the loss, allowing nine runs — six earned — on 12 hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
