Evergreen’s Macy Chamberlin repeated as the Northwest Ohio Athletic League softball player of the year, as the all-league teams were announced Wednesday.
Chamberlin, a junior who also won the NWOAL player of the year a season ago, has hit 19 home runs this season, while driving in a team-high 37 runs and hitting a blistering .727. The junior has 32 hits and 21 walks in 19 games.
The Evergreen star led a trio of returning first-team selections, which also included Archbold’s Natalie Nofziger (senior) and Bryan’s Ella Voigt (junior).
Also voted to the first team were Bryan freshman Thea Staten, Swanton’s Taylor Forrest (jr.) and Alexa Faber (freshman), Liberty Center’s Bea Barrett (jr.) and Emerson Gray (jr.), Wauseon sophomore Ava Kovar and Archbold senior Ella Bowman.
Bryan’s Samantha Molina was named the NWOAL softball coach of the year.
Second-team selections included Bryan’s Marlee Yoder (jr.) and Reese Grothaus (sr.), Liberty Center’s Emma St. Clair (jr.) and Molly Perry (jr.), Archbold’s Bre Boysel (sr.) and Maddie Thiel (sr.), Wauseon senior Ella Albright, Delta junior Jasey Spiess, Patrick Henry sophomore Kasey Nelson and Swanton freshman Lyla Carrizales.
Honorable mentions for each team included (Archbold) Makena Thiel, Adi Kinsman and Tess Ames; (Bryan) Kailee Thiel, Caitlyn DeWitt and Josey Arnold; (Delta) Kate Friess; (Evergreen) Shelby Moore, Courtney Robertson, Kira Keller and Evy Shrader; (Liberty Center) Molly Fuller and Madison McBride; (Patrick Henry) Grace Behnfeldt, Mariah Boyer and Illy Schwiebert; (Swanton) Kyleigh Shinaver, Payton DeTray; and (Wauseon) Brianna Hays, Kylerr Bronson and Ella Hageman.
