Elden H. Badenhop

Elden Henry Badenhop, age 86 years, of Archbold, Ohio, passed away early Wednesday morning, July 11, 2018, at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice.
Elden was born Oct. 8, 1931, in Napoleon, Ohio, to the late Henry and Mathilda (Meyer) Badenhop. He was baptized Nov. 1, 1931, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Freedom Township, Napoleon, Ohio. He affirmed his baptism through the right of confirmation May 13, 1945, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Napoleon, Ohio. Elden was married to Clarabell (Clare) H. Plassman Oct. 31, 1954, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Napoleon Township, by Pastor George Hueter.
He was a Veteran of U.S. Army serving in Korea. He was a member of St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, Archbold, Ohio, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, church treasurer, youth advisor and was an active member of the church choir. He was also a member of the Lion’s Club. He was employed by C.F. Gerken Construction from 1948-55, Zehr & Co. from 1955–86, Sauder Woodworking from 1987–2002, Tri Flo Sales and Service and F & M State Bank (Courier). He loved sports and was a loyal supporter of each of his grandchildren’s sporting careers.
He is survived by his wife, Clarabell H. (Plassman) Badenhop; daughter, Cristie (Keith) Sevey, Archbold; son, Philip (Nancy) Badenhop, Wauseon; and daughter, Jill (Kevin) Sautter, Weston. There are eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers, Elmer, Napoleon, Dalynn (Sharon), Perrysburg; brothers-in-law, Harold (Joan) Plassman, Archbold, Ronald (Suzanna) Plassman, Fort Wayne; and sister-in-law, Mildred Mitchell, Columbus Grove.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James Badenhop and Orville (Colleen) Badenhop; sister, Evelyn (Harold) Meister; sister-in-law, Joan Badenhop; sister-in-law, Margaret (Vernon) Meyer; sister-in-law, Florence (Norman) Fitzenriter; and brother-in-law, Ray Plassman.
Visitation will be held at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Archbold, Ohio, Saturday, July 14, 2018, from 2–8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2018, at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Archbold, Ohio, with Pastor Paul Reichert officiating. Interment will be directly following at Archbold Cemetery, with military rights by American Legion BLW Post #311.
Family suggests memorials be given to St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice or donor’s choice.
