Dorothy M. (Baker) Gerken

Dorothy M. (Baker) Gerken, 86, passed away on Sept. 22 in her home in Kettering, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Gerken, whom she married on June 28, 1952. She was the daughter of Harry and Bernadine

Mayer Baker, who also preceded her death, as well as her sister Angeline Eis, John Eis and niece Amy Repasky.

She had three children, Brad (Linda) of Napoleon, Marc (Marsha) of Granville and Angela (Bob) Bartha of Centerville; five grandchildren, Brian, Ross, Dustin, Molli Armbruster and Madison Bartha; as well as five great-grandchildren.

A long-time resident of Napoleon, Dorothy was the owner of My Favorite Things, an antique store in Napoleon. She was also very involved with the Henry County Hospital Bazaar, in which she was active for many years. Dorothy and Luther then moved to Dayton, where she managed several Hallmark businesses.

Dorothy was a loving, generous and special mother and wonderful friend to many. Upon her death, she followed Luther and donated her body to the Wright State University Anatomical Gift Program for scientific and educational research. A memorial service will be held at WSU upon internment, and all contributions may be sent to the Henry County Hospital in her remembrance.
