Rex Allen Peters, 59, of Napoleon, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 29, 2021, in Knightstown, Indiana.

He was born on July 30, 1961, to Herbert D. and Carol M. (Cole) Peters of Napoleon. He was a 1979 graduate of Napoleon High School. After graduation he honorably served in the United States Army from 1979-93, two of those years he served in Germany.

Rex worked as a truck driver for Smith Transport of Pennsylvania for 22 years. He enjoyed every moment of it. He liked to ride motorcycles and was a collector of all things. He loved children and animals, especially dogs. He will be remembered for his stubborn yet kind heart.

Left to cherish his memory is his brother, Steven (Tammy) Peters; former wives, Kari Flejter of Napleon and Sheila Peters of Delta, and girlfriend, Sally Granlund of Pennsylvania. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert D. and Carol M. (Cole) Peters, and sister, Deborah Smotherman.

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 6, 2021, at Walker-Hoening Mortuary (333 W. Main St.) of Napoleon from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be on Friday, May 7, 2021, at the funeral home at 10 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial with military honors will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery of Waterville. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic, masks are required for attendance at the funeral home and social distancing is also strongly encouraged.

Memorials in Rex’s memory may be considered to the Napoleon American Legion Post #300.
