Mildred A. Sonnenberg

Mildred Amelia Sonnenberg, 101, of Liberty Center, Ohio, was welcomed home into the arms of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2022.

She was born in Malinta, Ohio, on April 20, 1920, to the late Herman and Della (Gerding) Cohrs. Mildred married Harold Sonnenberg on Feb. 6, 1944, on her family farm. Harold preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 1962.

Mildred was employed at Standard Brands in Napoleon. She also was the custodian for St. Paul Lutheran Church Liberty Center for 30 years, where she was a member of the Women of the Church and worked in her own upholstery shop. She enjoyed sewing, baking, bowling, playing cards and being with her family. At Christmas time she would bake her famous Sugar Cookie Santas for all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. At Easter time everyone looked forward to her cinnamon rolls which were served after sunrise service at church for over 30 years. She bowled on a league in Napoleon until she was 90.

Mildred is survived by her children, Ervin (Trudie), Leroy (Jean), Marilyn and Harold (Kathy); 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; brothers, Walter, Elmer, Eldor, Edwin, Herman Jr. and Ronald Cohrs; and sister, Norma Smotherman.

Friends and family will be received at the Rodenberger-Gray Funeral Home, Napoleon, on Sunday, Jan. 16, 2022, from 2-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Liberty Center, on Monday, Jan. 17, 2022, at 11 a.m., with an hour of visitation prior to services. Interment will follow at Young Cemetery.
