Earl C. Lieb

Earl C. Lieb, 96, of Hamler died at 6:03 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021, at the Meadows of Leipsic.

He was born Feb. 17, 1925, in New Bavaria to the late Frank and Leona (Hanson) Lieb. On Oct. 19, 1947, he married Esther Searfoss, she preceded him in death on March 30, 2016.

Earl is survived by a daughter, Linda (Jerry) Bishop; and a daughter-in-law, Kathy Lieb, both of Hamler; five grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one brother Lyle (Eldene) Lieb of Defiance.

He is also preceded in death by a son, Steven Lieb; and six brothers, Carl, Delbert, Glay, Richard, Robert and Glenn Lieb.

Earl was an Army veteran, serving during World War II. He was a retired farmer and had formerly worked at Christman Lumber in Deshler and Leipsic. He was a lifetime member of the Hamler American Legion Post #262. Earl was a member of the First Christian Church, Leipsic, and a former member of Zion Church of God, Hamler.

Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 13, 2021, at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Leipsic, with Rev. Tim Eding officiating. Burial will follow at Sugar Ridge Cemetery, Leipsic, with military rites by the Hamler American Legion Post #262. A visitation will be Sunday 4-8 p.m. and Monday 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
