Ralph Zimmerman Jr., 92, died Jan. 3, 2021, in Daytona Beach Shores, Florida. He was formerly of Napoleon, Ohio.
He was born May 4, 1928, in Chatfield, Ohio, to Ralph and Martha (Rettig) Zimmerman Sr. On Nov. 2, 1952, he married Beulah Yenour, who preceded him in death in 1998.
Survivors include sons, Dennis of Eugene, Oregon, and Kirk of Daytona Beach Shores, Florida; a daughter, Mrs. Lila Wittman of Wells, Maine; a brother, Phil of Rockford, Illinois; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Ralph was a 1946 graduate of Holgate High School, Holgate, Ohio, and owned and operated Ralph Zimmerman & Son Contractors of Napoleon, Ohio; a member of St John’s United Church of Christ, Holgate, Ohio, where he was an elder and deacon; an associate member of Westminster by the Sea Presbyterian Church, Daytona Beach Shores, Florida; a Korean War Veteran, awarded the bronze star; member of the American Legion Post #340, Holgate, Ohio; sang in church choirs in Ohio and Florida; an auxiliary volunteer at Henry County Hospital; and a charter member 2002-12 of the Heartland Harmonizers Barbershop Chorus in Sebring, Florida.
A memorial service will be held at St John’s UCC, Holgate, Ohio, later when it is safe for the family to travel from Oregon, Maine and Florida.
Family suggests that memorials go to the St. John’s UCC Choir, Hospice of Volusia County, Florida, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
