Betty Jane Bruns, 85, of Napoleon, Ohio, died Dec. 1, 2019, at the Henry County Hospital.

She was born Sept. 3, 1934, in Liberty Center, Ohio, to the late Charles and Tillie (Saul) Starkey. On Dec. 26, 1954, she married Robert Bruns at the Liberty Chapel.

Betty was a 1952 graduate of Liberty Center High School and attended Davis Business College. She was a homemaker and helped outside the house as a cook for Napoleon Area Schools and the Napoleon Senior Center. At last, she worked in the activities department for the Napoleon Lutheran Home. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon, where she was a former member of the Ladies Guild and Altar Guild. She was a Den Mother and Troop Leader for Boy and Girl Scouts and enjoyed ceramics, baking, flowers, and most of all, her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Bob; children, Robert Bruns Jr. of Sherman Oaks, California, Pamela Bruns, Caroline (Chad) Betts, Tim (Marci) Bruns, all of Napoleon, Ohio; grandchildren, Robert III, Matthew, Bradley, Benjamin, Alexis, Katrina, Jacob; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by brothers, Kenneth and Jack Starkey.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-7 p.m. at Rodenberger-Gray Funeral Home and Thursday from 10-11 a.m. at the church.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
