DEFIANCE - The Wauseon girls tennis team opened the 2018 season with a 4-1 loss to the host Lady Bulldogs Monday.

Defiance swept all three singles matches. Alexa Beckford defeated Aliza Kudlica 6-2, 6-3; Bri Shank topped Tatum Barnes 6-0, 6-0; and Reece Miller bested Aslinn Meeker 6-0, 6-0.

The Lady Bulldogs' team of Ava Shock and Megan Lockmiller defeated Wauseon's Kim Aiken and Emah Storkweather 6-1, 6-0 at second doubles.

The Lady Indians' lone win came at first doubles, with Sam Aeschliman and Paige Smith defeating Marissa Blunt and Sofia Castillo 6-3, 6-2.

Wauseon is back in action today, hosting Bryan.
