ARCHBOLD — The Lady Streaks held off Patrick Henry’s fourth-quarter rally for a 55-52 Northwest Ohio Athletic League victory Thursday night in the Thunderdome.
The Lady Patriots led 21-17 at halftime, but Archbold answered with a 22-11 advantage in the third quarter. PH made a late run, but the Lady Streaks were 8 of 12 from the foul line in the fourth quarter to help seal the win.
“I liked how we competed, especially when PH made a run and got the momentum,” said Archbold girls basketball coach Brian Ziegler. “I thought both teams competed really hard. Our team defense was very good and our guards did a great job handling the ball, with Abi (Borojevich) and Kylie (Sauder) scoring. Addie Ziegler had a nice game that we needed out of her.”
Borojevich led all scorers with 17 points, while Ziegler added 15 and Sauder finished with 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
Patrick Henry was paced by Carissa Rosebrook with 16 points, while Kayla Prigge added 11 and Mckenzie Vance tallied 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
Archbold is now 9-5 overall and 2-1 in the NWOAL. The Lady Streaks travel to Bryan Thursday.
The Lady Patriots fall to 7-5 overall and 1-2 in the NWOAL. They host North Baltimore this afternoon.
Delta 53, LC 45
LIBERTY CENTER — Cassidy Chapa scored 22 points for the Lady Tigers, but it wasn’t enough as Delta held off Liberty Center for a 53-45 NWOAL win Thursday in The Jungle.
Chapa scored 13 of her 22 points in the fourth quarter. Alyssa Giesige added 7 for the Lady Tigers.
Delta (12-2, 3-0 in the NWOAL) was led by Brooklyn Wymer with 17 points, while Brooklyn Green added 16 and Braelyn Wymer tallied 10.
Liberty Center is now 8-7 overall and 0-3 in the NWOAL. The Lady Tigers travel to Fayette Monday.
Fairview 57, Holgate 35
SHERWOOD — Fairview rode a solid scoring performance from senior Cade Polter to beat Holgate 57-35 in Green Meadows Conference action Thursday night.
Polter led all scorers on the night with 22 points. Chayse Singer and Luke Timbrook each added 11 points.
The Apaches pulled away from the Tigers with an 11-1 second period for a 29-12 halftime lead.
Holgate was led by Bailey Sonnenberg with 13 points, while Blake Hattemer added 9 and Abe Kelly tallied 7.
Fairview is now 8-5 on the year overall, including 2-1 in the GMC. The Apaches host Defiance Saturday.
Holgate is now 2-9 overall and 0-3 in the GMC. The Tigers host Fayette tonight.
Pettisville 49, Stryker 47
PETTISVILLE — Stryker fell just short of ending Pettisville’s undefeated Buckeye Border Conference campaign Thursday night, falling 49-47 to the Blackbirds.
Junior Spencer Clingaman made two 3-pointers to lead Stryker with 15 points, while Kaleb Holsopple was the only other Panther in double-figures with 11 points.
Pettisville senior Graeme Jacoby led all scorers with 29 points.
Pettisville is now 10-3 overall and 8-0 in the BBC, while Stryker’s record drops to 2-10 overall, including 2-6 in the BBC.
