BLOOMDALE, Ohio — Liberty Center got off to a quick start Saturday, jumping out to a 20-10 lead after the first quarter and posting a 75-67 victory over host Elmwood.
It was the reverse of the Tigers’ last game, when Liberty Center trailed Evergreen 20-6 after the first period and lost 60-47.
Against Elmwood, the Tigers pushed their lead to 34-20 at halftime and made enough free throws (8 of 17) in the fourth quarter to hold off the Royals.
Carter Burdue led Liberty Center with 18 points, while Trent Murdock added 16 and Camden Krugh tallied 15. Aaron Shafer and Connor Keller each chipped in 7 for a balanced scoring attack.
Liberty Center finished the game 16 of 27 from the foul line.
Elmwood was led by Bryce Reynolds with 30 points.
The Tigers are now 6-5 on the season. They host Delta Friday in Northwest Ohio Athletic League action.
WAUSEON — The Indians managed just 4 points after halftime and fell to Defiance, which scored only 5 points in the fourth quarter, 32-29 Saturday night.
Wauseon made just one field goal after intermission, a bucket by Sean Brock in the fourth quarter. Brock led the Indians with 15 points.
Noah Tester added 7 for Wauseon.
Defiance was paced by Caden Kline with 9 points, while Tyrel Goings added 8.
Wauseon is now 7-4 on the season. The Indians host Perrysburg Tuesday.
Delaware Hayes 48,
ARCHBOLD — The Bluestreaks blew a big lead and fell to invading Delaware Hayes 48-45 Saturday night in The Thunderdome.
Archbold led 20-4 after the first quarter, but Hayes trimmed the lead to 26-22 at halftime. After both teams scored 15 points in the third quarter, Hayes outscored the Streaks 11-4 in the final period for the win.
Nate Griggs led Hayes with 14 points, while Paul Burris added 12.
DJ Newman paced Archbold with 16 points, while Ethan Hagans added 8 points and Trey Theobald tallied 7 points.
The Bluestreaks are now 7-4 on the season. They travel to Patrick Henry Friday.
