BOWLING GREEN — Napoleon junior Riley Kleck placed sixth overall and had the third lowest individual score not on a qualifying team, but just missed qualifying for the state tournament at the Division I district girls golf tournament Tuesday at Stone Ridge Golf Course.

Kleck shot a 39 on the front nine and closed with a 42 for an 81 on her round. Macy Hanus of Bowling Green was medalist with a 72 and Amanda Ruminski carded a 76 to take the two spots at the Division I State Tournament.

Only the top two teams and the top two individuals not on a qualifying team advanced. Kleck was the third lowest individual.

“Riley played great today,” said Napoleon golf coach Casten Reed. “After every bad hole she rebounded with a great one. That says a lot about what she’s made of.

“She made a new step this year and we hope to make another new one next year,” added Reed.

Ashland was the team champion with a score of 335, while St. Ursula was runner-up with a team score of 351. Bowling Green was fourth (377).
