ELIDA — Carter Burdue scored 22 points, Trent Murdock added 16 and eight rebounds and Liberty Center withstood 29 from Josh Reindel to beat Liberty-Benton 57-56 in the Division III sectional semifinal Tuesday at Elida High School.
Gabe Hinton added 11 points for the Tigers, who also got 5 from Bryce Bailey and 3 from Camden Krugh.
Cole Busch scored 11 points for the Eagles, while Mehkei Jenkins and Ben Spiess each added 5. Marcellus Eckford, Brycen Abbott and Jake Reindel each scored 2 to round out the Liberty-Benton scoring.
LC led 19-11 after the first before the Eagles used a 19-15 run to pull within 34-30 at halftime. Each team scored nine points in the third before Liberty-Benton’s 17-14 fourth-quarter run fell one point short.
The Tigers out-rebounded the Eagles 27-25, but committed 13 turnovers to LB’s nine. Liberty Center shot four of 13 from deep, while Liberty-Benton made eight of its 24 tries from beyond the arc.
Liberty-Benton made all four of its free-throw tries, while LC converted nine of its 15 looks from the stripe.
Liberty Center (10-13) advances to take on undefeated and top-ranked Archbold Friday in Elida in the sectional final.
Fairview 33, Tinora 32
MILLER CITY — Chayse Singer scored 11 points, Cade Ripke added 7 and Fairview snuck past Tinora 33-32 in the Division III sectional semifinal Tuesday at Miller City High School.
Isaiah Colon led the Rams with 10 points, while Tye Norden added 8 and Brady Bumb 6. Landon Rinkel scored 4 points, while Marcus and Max Grube each scored 2 to round out the Tinora scoring.
Luke Timbrook scored 5 points for the Apaches, while Cade Polter (3), Keenan Jackson (2) and Russ Zeedyk (2) rounded out the Fairview scoring.
Fairview scored the go-ahead bucket with 2.3 seconds remaining to get the win.
Fairview (13-10) advances to face Bluffton Friday in Miller City, while Tinora’s season ends with a record of 9-14.
Edgerton 46, Hilltop 13
DEFIANCE — Logan Showalter out-scored Hilltop by scoring 14 points and Edgerton cruised to a 46-13 win Tuesday at Defiance High School in the Division IV sectional semifinal.
Braydon Cape added 11 points for the Bulldogs, who also got 9 from Jaron Cape and 6 from Clayton Flegal. Gannon Ripke scored 3, while Colin Gary (2) and Shane Kellog (1) rounded out the Edgerton scoring.
Edgerton out-scored Hilltop 15-4 in the first and 18-6 in the second to take a 33-10 lead at halftime before the Bulldogs started a running clock by taking a 46-13 lead into the fourth quarter.
Neither team scored in the final frame.
Hilltop finishes the year with a record of 1-22, while Edgerton (12-10) advances to face Antwerp Friday at Defiance High School.
