SWANTON — Zach Bowers scored four touchdowns, gaining 232 yards on 22 touches, to lead Liberty Center to a 54-31 win over Swanton Friday in Northwest Ohio Athletic League action.
Max Phillips carried the ball 16 times for 105 yards and a score, while Alex Righi and Brecken Garretson also tallied a touchdown on the ground.
Quarterback Camden Krugh finished with 111 yards passing, completing 11 of 19 attempts for one touchdown, thrown to Connor Keller. Righi and Jeff Zacharias each pulled in 35 receiving yards to lead the Tigers.
Phillips also recorded an interception for the Tigers to lead the Liberty Center defense.
LC led 34-14 at halftime before out-scoring the Bulldogs 20-17 in the second half.
Liberty Center (7-0, 4-0 NWOAL) hosts Bryan Friday at Rex Lingruen Stadium, while Swanton (1-6, 0-4 NWOAL) hosts Delta.
Sandusky-St. Mary’s 13
SANDUSKY — Gavyn Kupfersmith scored three touchdowns, Hunter Gerschultz returned two kicks for touchdowns and Holgate kept up its perfect start to the season with a 50-13 win over Sandusky-St. Mary’s Friday.
Ethan Altman added a touchdown, while Hayden Birr returned an interception for a score for the Tigers.
The Tigers led 16-7 at halftime and out-scored the Panthers 34-6 in the second half to pull away.
Holgate (5-0) travels to take on Zanesville-Bishop Rosecrans Friday.
Wauseon 35, Evergreen 6
METAMORA — Cody Figy completed 12 of 18 yards for 215 yards and two touchdowns and Wauseon scored 21 points in the second quarter to pull away for a 35-6 win over NWOAL rival Evergreen Friday to claim the TJ Rupp trophy.
Tyson Britsch carried the ball once for 27 yards to lead the Indians on the ground, while Noah Tester (24) and Isaac Wilson (21) also contributed to the rushing attack.
Connar Penrod caught three passes for 55 yards and a touchdown, while Kolton DeGroff scored on a 47-yard touchdown.
The Indians led 7-0 after the first and 28-0 at halftime before out-scoring the Vikings 7-6 in the fourth quarter to close out the scoring.
Wauseon (6-1, 3-1 NWOAL) hosts Patrick Henry Friday in a key league tilt, while Evergreen (4-3, 2-2 NWOAL) travels to face Archbold.
Wayne Trace 22, Ayersville 20
DEFIANCE — Trevor Speice completed 16 of 23 passes for 177 yards, Kameron Bevis scored twice on the ground and Wayne Trace held off Green Meadows Conference rival Ayersville 22-20 Friday.
Bevis ran the ball 10 times for 138 yards to lead the Raiders on the ground, while Alex Reinhart caught five passes for 69 yards and one touchdown.
Owen Berner completed one pass for 19 yards for the Pilots, who also got a completion for 17 yards from Chase Eitniear.
Eitniear led all players with 179 yards on the ground across 26 touches and two scores, while Dakota Oswalt added 67 yards on 14 touches for one score.
Wayne Trace led 16-6 at halftime but was out-scored 14-6 in the second half. The Pilots cut the lead to two points with 2:59 remaining but could not take the lead.
Ayersville (1-6, 1-3 GMC) hosts Fairview Friday, while Wayne Trace (3-4, 2-2 GMC) hosts Delphos-Jefferson in non-league action.
